Actually, the answer is two... our native pick and the one for Taylor.

The MJ trade was a straight up player for player swap... no draft picks. The trade you're thinking of was the Nick Harris trade to CLE... but the swap of 6th and 7th round picks isn't until 2026.

We also expect to be awarded two comp picks in 2025 according to otc.com... a 4th and a 5th.

So right now, I believe that we have a total of 9 picks:

Our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th (we traded our 5th to NYG for Big Cat)... plus the comp 4th and 5th rounders... plus a 6th for Darrell Taylor.
I know the Jackson trade was player for player but was their any cost savings with the salary cap?

The Jackson trade surprised me a little bit, this one didn't. Cool that we are finally also acquiring some compensatory picks we can pool and use to get a higher pick that we are likely to get from our w/l standing. There will be a QB in the upcoming draft I want very much to see us get.

Who's left thats on the bubble to hope to get something for? Eskeridge? (I can dream) Coby Bryant? Any one else?
Reed III injury must have worse than we thought. I hoped he could play this year. Having him on the field would be like having two layers of Witherspoon. And it would make Coby expendable just like Hall made Taylor expendable.

Great trade.

But I don't think Coby s going anywhere. He seems to be a great fit now.

Maybe one of the rookie edges can make the roster now? Sheriff is a wrecking ball.

Honestly, the writing on the wall was Connor Williams, at that point I was 99% sure Taylor would be cut or traded. And expected Rhattigan, no matter how much better he looked probably would be cut or restructured. Those two would free up the most cap and you don’t pay 4th or 5th options $3m.

But I’m not upset because the things I saw from Sheriff and who knows if he even makes the team just highlighted how much Taylor game or lack thereof is his mindset. Definitely thought he wasn’t a MacDonald type player, thought he would have a better market, and get us a comp pick, so this about the same.

He was injured at the time he was drafted and had to spend a whole year rehabbing. He should have never been drafted in the 2nd round. It was a terrible choice at the time.
Taylor was drafted during the period when PC and JS started pushing players up the board based on need. They stopped doing that after the 2021 draft and their drafts have dramatically improved.

You guys give JS too much credit...Taylor was our sack leader for the last 3 seasons. A 6th round pick for team sack leader. I rather keep him one more season for depth or situational. Very good pickup for the Bears.

Who knows what the coaches think. Taylor might not fit their scheme well.

i doubt it was schemes...It was shaving 3million and dude probably had a learning disability but the dude can pass rush. On third down i want this guy in there to go after the QB.

Jalon Daniels. If he can stay healthy this year he will be a top contender for the Heisman. Skills off the charts, coachable, team player, great work ethic, and outstanding individual, and is a perfect fit for our system/culture.
