i doubt it was schemes...It was shaving 3million and dude probably had a learning disability but the dude can pass rush. On third down i want this guy in there to go after the QB.
The problem was he can’t cover or stop the run. And at least 1/3 of his sacks came when it didn’t matter to the outcome of the game.

Jalon Daniels. If he can stay healthy this year he will be a top contender for the Heisman. Skills off the charts, coachable, team player, great work ethic, and outstanding individual, and is a perfect fit for our system/culture.
Back injuries are tricky things

I'm not saying the Bears fleeced us, but the Bears fleeced us. I feel used and dirty. Way to go John.

No Cheers
Too negative Chawk!

There was no way he was going to be kept by the Hawks and he is on a one year deal and may want bigger $ next year so he may need to actually learn to stop the run or realize he's a career backup level DE who is a one trick pony speed rusher.

Man I feel like the timing was the reason we got a 6th. If we would have traded him in the off season we could have gotten at least a 4th. Even if he was a pass rush specialist or one trick pony he will be valuable on the right team.

Mike probably wanted to spend some time evaluating who would be the best fit for his defense

I'm guessing that Mac needed to evaluate him during TC in the role that he believed he might be suited for... and he must not have impressed.

Mac is looking for versatility on defense... that's been a constant theme... and I'm guessing Taylor fell short of the mark that Mac set for him.

Taylor was drafted during the period when PC and JS started pushing players up the board based on need. They stopped doing that after the 2021 draft and their drafts have dramatically improved.
I don't know if that's entirely true. Most saw linebacker as a total non-need with Wagner and Wright on the team (and Mychal Kendricks available to re-sign after a good 2019 season) and thought the Brooks pick was a waste need-wise.

I don't think Taylor got especially pushed up by his spot so much as his pressure rate and speed rush. Seemed like a fairly prototypical Seattle LEO for a team that was really hurting for some disruption from the edge.

He was injured at the time he was drafted and had to spend a whole year rehabbing. He should have never been drafted in the 2nd round. It was a terrible choice at the time.
No one expected him to have complications or a severely-delayed recovery after that surgery.

They were correct not to throw him off the board medically, though, because he has missed a total of 1 game in 3 full-time season since with near-50% snap totals in all 3 of those seasons - and that was due to a neck injury where he had to be immobilized. Leg has been rock solid and clearly hasn't limited him at all since.

Wagner and Wright were picked when Seattle was still drafting according to talent, not need. Taylor was picked based on team needs.

Definitely was the case, but I did not see him play much this preseason. So i guess he must not have like what he saw in camp and evaluated him that way.

Don’t sleep on Bryant. Best years are coming.
Given that opposing QBs have completed 78% of their passes with him in coverage, I would sure hope what we've seen so far wasn't his best years. Would love to see him become relevant.

He’s not a corner, so I think the move to safety will help him tremendously.

I love this. DT was great off the ball, but had no bend. If the QB stayed in the pocket DT would just run right by...

The twitch is elite though. I can see why they held onto him so long. But like Michigan J. Frog, he never was able to produce when it counted.

My first reaction: We got fleeced
My 2nd reaction: Trust MM, Taylor must have not fit his system
My 3rd reaction: If we get the best kicker in the draft with that 6th, worth it!
