EXCELLENT! Been painfully clear for a while now that he was hurting the Ms more than helping them.

Dan Wilson taking the helm is a pleasant surprise. Unproven as coach, and maybe just a temporary fill-in. We'll see.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/57...o-fire-scott-servais-name-dan-wilson-manager/

"Wilson, Servais’ replacement, represents a connection to the franchise’s glory days. Wilson played for the Mariners from 1994 to 2005, spending much of that time as Randy Johnson’s batterymate. Wilson, 55, has never been on a big-league coaching staff or managed at any level, but he has been a familiar face around the current team."

Dan Wilson? I mean, I get that options are going to be very limited in late August, but he has literally zero experience as a coach or a manager. Very odd choice in my opinion.

I don't know how much this will help if Dipoto is still there. servais wasn't great but the tools he was given to work weren't always great either.

Saying that, if Dipoto was fired too im not sure another GM will do much better. Current ownership don't seem serious about contending, just making money. Pissing away great starting pitching.

Spot on, imo.

Looking forward to finding out if Servais was the biggest problem or if the players Servais had to work with are the biggest problem.

I mean, if it was Servais, not the players, then we should see much better results and much better play out of these guys now that Servais is gone, right?

I'd like to see him light up a smoke, then light into the hitters for their weak-ass attempts at the plate. Then visit the mound and ask the pitcher "Do you think you could throw some f***ing strikes?!?" Along with hat-kicking and base-throwing, of course.

The fact that they are going with Dan Wilson and Edgar Martinez means this is coming from management. They’re going over Dipotos head on this one. Have to think his time is limited. Ownership remains the root problem if you ask me.
