I understand they feel like they have 2 starters, but it looks like they have 2 backups. I like Sam Howell but some GM should float their backup for a king's ransom. Steelers aren't financially tied to either.

The Stealers have a has been and a never been battling it out for QB1. Yet, the media was kissing their asses all offseason over both moves. What a joke.
I want to go along with your take here, just feel like it's too early to tell. OC may need more time to understand and implement the Russell Wilson offense. Or maybe he's realized that it needs the LOB for it to truly work.

Or maybe Arthur Smith is confused trying to figure out the nuances and differences between the Russell Wilson offense and the Justin Fields offense.

I like Justin Fields better, personally, because of his leadership f-ups his rookie year and seeing the efforts he's made to do better. May the better QB win.

Russ looks cooked.

And it’s such a Russell thing to do, to adorn his helmet on the sidelines long after his reps are over.

Where most humans take their helmets off on the sideline whether their day is over or not, nope! Not Russ!

The only thing missing is Russ late in the 4th quarter of a preseason game, helmet on, doing high steps up and down the sideline in front of the bench.

SO glad we got his best, least cringy years.

Drive-ending sacks, three sacks in 13 dropbacks, good completion-percentage numbers based on throws short of the sticks, the offense going nowhere. It's Russball!!
This is what he's been for many years, the only difference is that he had wheels
to escape and improv early on with the Hawks.
It's not the HCs, OCs, OL, TEs, or Jake Heaps period..
That stat line is the same stat line that has fooled the Me3 fans for years.
It's why SP and Denver chose to pay him $40 million this season and take
a huge cap hit for this season and next.

Supposedly, this is the best OL of his career. If Fields starts regular season, what scenario could be advertised where he'd be ok staying as #2? ...injury, mentor, team player...? ...or will he try to get a Brady announcer job...?

Will the real Russell Wilson please stand up...

If there was any doubt about who and what Russ was, there shouldnt be now. Absent of a system that is essentially a 'non-system' that allows him to just make stuff up, he struggles to play the position well.
The irony here is that he's landed in a place where he may well be ushered out of the league, riding the pine behind a guy who just might 'Out- Russ', Russ, in that whenever Fields fails to make a read or execute the play, he creates on his own and sometimes in spectacular fashion. He's nowhere near what Russ was in his prime, but he looks to be better than Russ v 2024.

As Russ can't read a defense, how the hell is he going to succeed as an announcer or a play-by-play guy. With all his cringy media interviews or post-game interviews I know I'm not the only one who's head would explode listening to him trying to analyze a play, let's just say he is not Tony Romo!!! Please for the love of God NO.....
