Howell is a developmental guy. Geno is the veteran starter. The Me3 train has left the building never to return in a Seahawks uniform. Except for that day in the future when he will put on his number 3 jersey and raise the 12 flag.

I don't see any scenario where the Stealers cut Russ. Even if Fields were to win the starting job, he's a veteran backup for a million bucks for this year. And it's not like Fields is a sure thing if he does become the starter.

Howell will be fine. He is with the twos who he doesn't have much time working with. New backup QBs rarely look good. Geno also didn't look great in practice as a backup.

Also, a huge no to bribing back RW

Howell is a developmental project. Russ is, at best, a stopgap for a contending team without a de facto starter. The only reason you'd bring Russ into this situation is if Geno suffers a major injury; otherwise, it doesn't make sense for either party.

That is totally not where I thought this thread was going from the title. I thought this was going to be about trading Howell to the Steelers and fleecing them. (Which I'd still probably be opposed to.)

But naw, leave Russ to do Russ things in whatever city he becomes the new savior of. If something happens to Geno, I'd rather roll with Sam for the entirety of the season. I wouldn't give Russ a dime to come here.

I didn't read any of the comments, so forgive me if this is redundant:

No. Stop it. Geno is our starter and will continue to be for the next 2-3 years. No backup in the league is going to improve our team. Russ was, is, and will forever more be a cancer. Our QB of the future is most likely riding the pine this year whether it is Howell, PJ Walker, or someone on the roster of another team. There is no need to pursue another QB this year.

Russ and his over inflated ego will never accept a backup role again. If he doesn’t start in Pittsburgh, his agent will quietly shop him. If no one bites, he’ll retire
