Hockey is a pretty cool sport in that one team can have the clear edge in high-end superstar talent, like Colorado does with their best players. But depth, speed, structure and goaltending can take you a long. Seattle rolls line after line of like B/B+ level players.

How can you say that though being the defending champions?

We lost landeskog before the season started.. and we lost nazem kadri and Andre burikovski who were both offensive studs in the postseason last year. We were riddled with injuries throughout the year. We got healthy in time for the playoffs but some guys were still rusty for sitting out a couple
Months. And we had a lot of AHL guys in the series. My opinion is that the team without its captain and some other key players meant we were never destined for a repeat. I honestly believe we spent too much effort (although it was necessary) into winning the division and we were just gassed heading straight into post season hockey. There’s a lot of Avs homers who would say otherwise

I don’t know how healthy the kraken were.

But it shouldn’t take anything away from the kraken. Grubs got hot at the right time, and your guys were also shooting much better. the kraken have matched up well against the Avs this year.

And the Avs weren’t cheated at all in the post season. We just played a better team.

The Kraken just outplayed the avalanche and that’s okay

And I don’t mean to sound like I’m downplaying the Kraken. It was just a season from hell with all The injuries and stuff. But the kraken were beating us when we were 95% healthy in the regular season. There was a point I didn’t even think they would’ve made the postseason. Then we were squeaking out wins against bad
Teams near the end. Then you have to a play a real postseason team like the kraken.

Another quirky Kraken fact, they now rank 30th in the league in game 7 wins. Leaping over the Senators and Blue Jackets.

Glad they won. Couldn’t handle both my teams eliminated in back to back nights. Really looking forward to them winning a series at home.
