Yeah. The FO is evaluating what they have and seeing which young players will stick around for the next QB.

I think there's definitely some truth to this. As stated, I feel like this is basically a wash of a season, a 17 game preseason in essence. Yes, I do believe every player and coach wants to win but looking at the bigger picture, this season is more about player growth (see: gaining experience) and evaluation and less about making the playoffs.

This state of affairs must be really frustrating for you.
I question how anyone that has watched football for any length of time cannot see it at this point.

It must be nice for those that can just chalk it up to it being a 17 game preseason, and they'll go get 'em next year.

I got bad news for those people. With the same regime in place it will be worse next year. They haven't bottomed out yet.

So basically, players need to stick to their assignments and "just do their jobs" as the Patriots would say.
Well, yeah...and if you do go 'off script' you damn well had better be right and make a killer play when you do it. ;)

So far this season, as young as it is, has been quite entertaining for me. Perhaps I just haven't watched football long enough to understand how horrible the games really are.

You do seem to be a glutton for something. The stress sounds to be really difficult for you as a student of football.

The truth is the Seahawks are a smoldering pile of rubble. They have been mismanaged and poorly coached for a long time.

They've gotten worse little by little every year for going on 9 years with few exceptions. Like a frog in a pot fans didn't notice they were being boiled until it was too late.
I laughed reading this. Boiling frogs hahaha . You just dont go out and get another Earl Thomas,
Richard Sherman types. Those guys are generational talents that all came together in a perfect storm
of violence. I dont see anyone on this team close to that. I see promising talent and a few
nice pieces to the puzzle yet nothing to make me think they'll be great anytime soon.

I do like Moonwalker #30

I feel bad for Quandre. He should have waited out some other offers.

I was hoping we were a QB away. Perhaps following the “win a SuperBowl with a QB on a rookie contract” route.

But, the defense is bad. Real bad. I’d rather spend the picks on the D at this rate.

It would be another year with Geno and Lock but, what difference does it make if you can’t play defense?

In his post game interview, the ever to the point, zero cliche Diggs made a statement about the team in general not being good enough to "take time off." What do you think he meant by that? Are some of the players not putting the full commitment in as needed during practice time and/or throughout the games?

... Thoughts?
My thought is this post needs a lot more context before we can evaluate it accurately.

What question was Diggs addressing with this answer? What else did he say in response to that question? Did a reporter follow up by asking him to elaborate as to exactly what he meant by "take time off"?

My favorite part was when he said "if you don't like my answers, don't ask the question. I tell the truth"
LOVE it.

What's more damning is that I heard (I didn't notice myself, I rarely notice defensive formations during the games) they actual played more 4-3 defense in the game, abandoning the 3-4 they were supposed to transition to. That tells me they are at the point they are trying anything to see what works. Basically, this season is a 17 game preseason.
I have zero idea how anyone could think this season was anything else.

Because they want to win?
Absolutely the players and coaches want to win. Probably he front office too. the big thing standing in the way is we're a shitty team right now. It's a full rebuild whether Pete or anyone else wants to say it or not.

Players play to win. Period. Dave Wyman talks about this all the time. His 2-14 team, every guy was convinced they would make the super bowl.
I'm glad the players don't just throw in the towel like the fans.

Remember when Michael Dickson went off script and ran his punt out of the endzone to a 1st down?

It was awesome; love that guy's moxy!

To me, if we're not a contender with Russell the last few years, it was gonna take at least 2 draft/FA cycles minimum to rebuild the roster to anything close to being ready.

Meh, it's game 3. Half (or more) of the defensive guys out there are in their 2d or 3d year playing full time. I'll give them a few more games before I declare we need to spend another whole draft on D. Of course, the way the O looks right now, we may not need more than a QB there in the next draft. Much of our offense are under team control for a couple years or so and they're starting to gel decently.

What Diggs said hinted that we have a problem with coaches on defense side of the ball, and some players too of course, but mainly at the coaching level.

We have a first time DC but Pete also hired a more qualified coach as his equal? Or, as his subordinate? Or, as his mentor? Mentor should be out as they are around the same age. When there are two bosses, often ended up as having none, which is sounding like the case. Players are playing with no discipline, and lacking abilities to execute and coordinating fundamental stuffs.

I speculate that Clint Hurtt and Sean Desai aren't on same page, I further suspect Clint is mainly handling the DL, Sean with DB, LB is a gray area that both putting conflicting influence on. With these two wrestling for whatever they are wrestling for, the players are getting conflicted instructions, which led to poor coordination on the field.

I suspect that Pete was trying to hands off and let Clint and Sean so it, but he put the wrong structure, all these might end up Pete taking over yet again, which will piss Sean off. If we hired Donahue, it would have worked better, but we somehow hired Sean AND Hurtt.
