I have a story like this too.

I had seen Russ at a grocery store some time back. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face.

I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

It was a sight to behold.
For real Maelstrom? This happened to you personally?

This colors my opinion of RW pretty severely....

It probably isn't fair. Everyone has a bad day. Everyone has days someone else can tell bad stories about them.
Not that it matters.
Aaron Rodgers is a complete jerk. But he is also the reason that team is a playoff team.

When he goes, so will the chances of anyone caring about the Packers for a while.
Same thing with Wilson.
The Seahawks only matter when they have a star QB. And you put up with a lot of crap when you deal with star QBs. Comes with the territory.
Sounds like the Seahawk PR team is working hard to try to burn the Wilson brand so that it isn't clear they traded away a star QB for little to nothing of value.

Only matter when they have a star QB?? Tell that to Grossman, Kaep, JimmyG, Keenum, Flacco, Sanchez, and Bortles. these dim stars or not stars took their teams to 11 conference championship games and 4 superbowls. Heck, Wilson ain't much of a star back in '13, he was a game manager. We ain't sniff no conference championship once Wilson became a star.

Only stars that mattered would be a better way to go about it, and the only stars would be Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Big Ben, and Peyton. The other so call 'stars'? Nor really.

Toffee,

Technically we stopped sniffing the conference championship the moment we got rid of Unger - just like I predicted/pointed out at the time....

You need QB stars to win super bowls.

If Rodgers wasn't in Green Bay for 17 years they could have 0 Super Bowls instead of 1.

w/o Wilson the Hawks may have 2 Super Bowls instead of 1.

Think Sanchez will win superbowls on '13 and '14 Hawks? or Kaep? or Flacco? or lol JimmyG? I gave these ideas some thoughts, and you know what? While none of these QB are better than Wilson individually, in fact far from it, but they could be adequate with Marshawn and that defense.

The problem is that Atlanta DIDN'T let off the gas. Shanahan passed into oblivion instead of leaning on his rushing game to close out a game that was being led 28-3.
The bigger problem was Ryan kept snapping the ball 10-20 seconds earlier than necessary whilst the game clock was ticking. He gave the Patriots nearly 3 minutes of extra game time.

I am of the opinion that team Russ motivated this article, because this article painted victimhood, poor Russ, and evil Pete. Pretty much camp Russ' taking points in recent years. @Fade was quite sure it was "One sided hit piece, put out by the team."

We will never know for sure but What do you guys think?

Huh. Looks like Fade didn't read the article, guys.
Didn't read it by using a direct quote?

This is a direct quote in the article.

"Denver was Wilson's only option and Schneider's preferred choice, because Drew Lock was the quarterback Schneider wanted in return."

It also wasn't Wilson's only option, but Seattle perferred option, because of Drew Lock and… What is being left out of the article. Seattle only wanted to trade him to the AFC, because they are absolutely mortified of Wilson killing them every year, or nearly every year. The other teams interested were NFC.

Your cringe story about running up on Wilson, matches your cringe on this site. Embarrassing.

ESPN picked Broncos @ Seahawks for their MNF opener and they're drumming up as much interest for their broadcast as they can. That's why they published this article at this time. ESPN doesn't care about what happened, or when. If the game was on another network this article probably wouldn't have been published.

The old "the part that refutes my statement is incorrect, but the part that supports my statement is correct, and I base this on nothing" stance. Nice.

My thing with Russ ended in 2016..I saw the same thing(s)
that year that made me question his play and extension later.
It led to the thread I posted below back then.
I wish the FO had seen the decline of mobility and legs sooner.
I'm not shocked by anything with Russ..
To me he is not a HOF QB but he is a HOF diva who never will
be an MVP.
I want to write up so much more honestly but I've been anti-Russ
for so long it's like repeating myself lol.
Seriously though I'm happy that many more have came aboard who
can write it up better than I could..
I do wish the story was different and we had a legend QB who we
all stood behind..Someday maybe we will.

Russ' camp was pissed because John looked at Mahomes and then Allen. Did Team Brady get pissed over Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy G.? The difference is that Brady just took care of business while, behind the scenes, Russ went into full meltdown mode. This was a good read. It also verifies that some front office folks think that Russ is on the decline and that he is more focused about chasing an MVP than he is on winning ball games.

back to the article. is it all fluff? no, i don't think so. sure, i'd even call a hit-piece, but it's still relevant and exposes both pete and (primarily) wilson... and really, this article just reiterates what some of have been saying, despite the wilson apologist downplay; that wilson, albeit uniquely talented, is a toxic and declining player. (toxic, as in: controlling, superficial, vain, paranoid, demanding, and unappreciative) there's also a few damning quotes, i'll highlight some:

  • One of Wilson's seven interceptions in that stretch came in a loss at the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10. Trailing by a touchdown, he scrambled to his right and had a massive swath of empty turf in front of him. He bypassed the rushing yards, uncorking a deep heave back across the field that was picked off in the end zone. "What are we doing here?" one source in the Seahawks' front office remembers thinking at the time. "Are we trying to win games or are we trying to win MVP?"

  • "He's not as mobile as he used to be," said one source in the Seahawks' front office."

  • As detailed in a 2017 ESPN The Magazine story by Seth Wickersham, Seahawks defenders grew resentful in later years over their belief that Carroll gave Wilson preferential treatment.

  • "I just felt like he's a descending player," another front-office source said, citing the same mobility concern. "Is he going to be able to be a true pocket passer at the end of his career and just stand there and drop the ball off to his checkdowns? He's never done that. I can't tell you he's going to be able to do that."

  • "It's going to get more and more difficult for him to create and do what he used to do ... I do think that's going to be harder," said former Seahawks quarterback Brock Huard, who co-hosted a radio show on Seattle Sports Station 710-AM during most of Wilson's career with the Seahawks. "Is that going to hit in 2022? Probably not. I think this will likely be one of his best years for the Broncos. But will he slow down in '23, '24, '25? Yes. "The guys that have endured and changed the threshold and played into their 40s -- Brady, Brees -- they played a different game than Russell plays. They play a game totally from the pocket and have done that the entirety of their career. That's not necessarily Russell's game."

  • "So those two things," a source in the Seahawks' front office said. "A declining player and then what the ask was going to be the next time, which would have been his third time. It's like, 'No, let's play really good defense, let's run the s--- out of the ball. That's how we won a world championship.' That's what we've kept going back to."

I found the Atlanta thing worse...and that came from Wilson's camp didn't it? I can chalk up the bonehead pick in LA into triple coverage vs running for a first down / TD. But getting upset because the lack of passing would hurt his MVP chances...I know the Boston media is known for hit pieces when players move on, with stories leaked by the team. I hope this isn't it...and there seems to be enough negative comments about how Seattle handled it to show this isn't it.
