I said this in another thread. It's great to hear a qb answer xs and os questions with xs and os responses. Also great to see the guy's maturity and leadership.

Reports are he had a great game, whether runnung 2s against 1s or with the ones. He's going to be better here than he ever was in Denver.

Started 10 for 10.

That’s the spirit!

Won’t some be surprised when our 34 beats out #3. I will be watching for sure.

There is considerable subjectivity in these which are stats based and don’t account for the supporting team.

How do you know the Hawks "skipped out" on Baker? NONE of us know what offer was made, or IF there was an offer made. I wanted them to bring in Baker, but to assume the Hawks just skipped out? None of us will ever know. Including Welsher's and his "sources"

Aren't these GMs and football lifers rating these QBs?

The problem with Lock isn't his accuracy, though his footwork affects things, it is that he falls apart under pressure.

The problem with Geno is that he is Geno.

#34 might not be accurate. But it ain't great.

No no you are right. The infallible Seahawks and PC never have done anything wrong. It’s tiring arguing with sycophants.

Are you in 3rd Grade Jay? Show me where ANYONE has said that the Hawks and PC have never done anything wrong.
You can't, because nobody has said that. As opposed to someone who RARELY has anything good to say about his "team"

There is plenty to be critical of with this team, front office etc. No different than many teams. Fan how you want, everything sucks, everyone sucks.
Better?

" The nicest thing about rain is that it always stops." "Eventually."

"It's snowing still", said Eeyore gloomily, "and freezing". "However." he said brightening up ever so little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."

Even Eeyore has some sense of optimism.

Our compatriot JayHawk, not so much.

If nothing else it is clear he has zero regard for Coach Carroll, the rest of the coaching staff, and the front office and believes the team will suck again but even if it didn't and made the playoffs the season would be a failure if the team failed to reach the Super Bowl. It's a tough thing to find much about the the team that allows him optimism. I respect his views but believe he needs to reassess his negativity even only if it is a little.

Misplaced optimism is probably just as indictable as pessimism. Especially when you consider how we have been trending for half a decade. (and how integral a key player was to our success when you also know that player is no longer here).
As for the rest, it is completely inbounds to respect & admire the program builder Carrol WAS while having little confidence in his ability to do that anymore.

I don't begrudge the optimism. I don't understand the conclusions. But understand the need for it sometimes.

It still feels odd to call out the pessimism when this team has been on an inexorable slide for the past half-decade, and we literally just witnessed what the team looks like without Russ last year (when he was injured).
Now the defense, just by math, HAS to be better. But a new scheme and system means growing pains. It won't be fixed immediately, maybe not even improved initially.

But I am confident that Carroll will do better than terrible. He has a knack at keeping things just above .500 - probably even with me at QB he would do that. So even with Lock or Geno (shudder), it is possible.

The issue I have with the pessimists is their apparent utter lack of recognition that Russ was part of that trend.
if you think its going to get better with either one of these slapdicks I have news for you. Were in "suck for a high draft pick mode" and Im fine with that. Its obvious. This looks just like the Tarvaris season. 4 or 5 wins should net us a nice solid QB.

There have been some very significant recent changes designed hopefully to right things for the team and to cease the downward slide. To me that's a positive but without a doubt the changes will need to be critically assessed to see if they work or are a least showing a positive new sense of direction for the team. I'm not calling out Jayhawks's pessimism at all. What I am observing is just his inability to acknowledge any thing positive occurring with the team. The rain does stop, eventually.

The Hawks have sucked in the past for a long time, got good at times, then mediocre and then good again, but recently have slipped to being regarded as a bottom ten team. Changes, big changes have been made as they were needed to be made. A watershed huge franchise altering trade was made to change the culture and team leadership which will need to be assessed as it plays out. If those changes work it's a big positive and not a perpetual negative. As steps are being take to fix things that's good to me and should not be regarded as purely negative.

It's not to be unexpected that the team might be awful on O this season without their franchise QB but if progress is seen to be made then the rain will stop. There is fresh evidence of a rapproachment of some disaffected former team members with the team and a fresh developing younger team approach which we will need to see played out.

By nature though I am more of a critical optimist than a pessimist, yet I can understand the view of those with a more negative view. However, it for sure isn't always all bad.

If the team rolls with rated QB #34 but looks improved in different ways on both sides of the ball there will be lots to be encouraged about.

If anyone expected this rebuild to be instant you have not been paying attention, there is a process to all of this that needs to play out.

Meanwhile I want our #34 to beat our old #3 when the season opens, and for our D to give him a few hard rubs as better than most our coaches know his escape moves. A journey of a 100 miles begins with a single step forward. To me it's is easier to make that journey with a sense of optimism and hopefulness, because we haven't had an earthquake lately. (y)

Oh Pete has done plenty wrong, mishandling relationship with Russ was most destructive, and I asked for his dismissal for that mismanagement. That said, I also advocated the trade of Wilson, for two years, why? I don't the next HC could manage Wilson either, he is his own man, and he has been increasingly unmanageable.

That is fair Jammer.
It is also true that message boards have several uses. Some are around the discourse. Getting insight, new perspectives, learning, etc. Even collaborative discovery.

But some is venting.

However, the purpose of venting is not to defend a viewpoint or even to steadfastly hold that view. It is to process a frustrating situation, though gaining new perspectives helps.
(For instance, I've been talked off the ledge a few times even though ultimately my fears came to pass.)

Even the most steadfast optimist would have to concede that this circumstance is frustrating right now.
We don't have much clarity on either the offense's effectiveness or the defense. Much less team strength overall.

So is the frustration really that shocking?
(I know that venting about the frustration is frustrating to some others, and am actively working on not ruining the fan experience for others. But sometimes you just do have to vent)

Thank you Twisted! Your post was very well articulated and undoubtedly heartfelt.

Believe me many of us here get it, and the need to vent but truthfully this is entertainment and it is at times frustrating to watch entertainment as are as hardcore fans highly invested in the team and it’s outcome. It certain though isn’t always negative.

Just because the past few seasons have been less than happy in outcome with what looked to be inevitable playoff failures the recent changes offer new sense of direction, which may bring different venting going forward.

I’m curiously optimistic about the season I don’t expect much but I hope to watch a fresh young team that has a sold sense of positive direction.
