#1 Carroll.
If you are a Husky fan, you know you watched that team (USC) load up every year and then almost invariably Carroll would make some weird mistake along the way - they would stumble, and lose a chance for the national Championship.

The book on Carroll was always incredible recruiter/talent dev but not going to outcoach anyone on gamedays. So even though you were overmatched, you always felt your team stood a chance.
Couple that with Carroll's penchant to hire substandard coordinators, and I was rightfully concerned. Especially because one of his crappy DC hires ended up as a terrible Husky coach later.

But Carroll loaded this team up with high ceiling guys, then he got those guys to punch through the ceilings.

Then that team became a buzzsaw and won a SB, and damned near won another one.
Also - when we traded for Lynch I was happy. He was fantastic at Cal. But I didn't see Lynch turning into what was basically a HOF caliber player. (and should be a HOF player but likely won't).

#2 Wilson.
I never expected Wilson to extend here. It made no sense. The way that Carroll wanted to play wouldn't work for Wilson and the way Wilson wanted to play was rarely going to be OK with Carroll. Wilson would chafe at not being able to put up the #s he felt he was capable of. Also, Wilson hinted he wanted to be legendary and take TWO teams to the SB, that would mean leaving our team by definition. And Wilson was starting to go on things like The Nickelodeon Kids show, and he was basking in the exposure. It was clear he would want a bigger stage, and bigger audience soon.
Never expected him to extend. That was actually shocking when he did stay, because it felt like he couldn't be happy playing the kind of ball Pete would want.

I wanted LJ Collier. And Ryan Mallett. Ugh.

I thought John Moffett was going to be a steal.

Hated the Carrol hire.

At least you can just toss the jersey. We got a puppy that year and named him Percy. I still have PTSD flashbacks sometimes when I call his name.
Here are a few other Percys you can claim you named your dog after:

Percy Sledge — original performer of When a Man Loves a Woman
Percy Jackson — the lead character of the fantasy series Percy Jackson & The Olympians
Percy Bysshe Shelley — famous poet/novelist and husband of Mary Shelley of Frankenstein fame

Yep, without a doubt it was "THE BOZ", thought he would single handily transform the Hawks to the best D in NFL history....Opps

I can tell others publicly that I named it after my wife's grandfather (who is named percy as well, which is why she let me use that name), but nothing can change the fact that I know what I did and I will have to live with that for years to come.

The Boz gets a bum rap. He wasn't that bad. His body just broke down from the roids on a small frame.

Hamlin was a hammer who slobberknocked opposing WRs, he was an ascending talent at SS. After his injury his loss upset defensive plans for 2005 and the Hawks fell from competitive superiority after his downturn. there were other reasons for sure but his physicality and intimidating presence were missed. It was yet another dumb player move that hurt his team. Player hormones and testosterone have hurt more than one career.

From what the police report indicated in my recollection he was hit by a parking sign with a round weighted end and suffered a fractured skull and a long term concussion that took a very long time to resolve. In result his career was irreversibily damaged and the Hawks D was robbed of a real intimidating talent at SS.

Hamlin was favourite player who like Tatupu burned bright but just briefly then was gone.

My biggest Hawk player miss was Harvin who had talent to burn but failed to show up for his team. Still there was that 2nd half opening KO return that sealed the deal in the SB. That one play justified his expensive but most unproductive acquisition.

Thinking that Marshawn Lynch would be an ineffective, selfish - diva running back and would turn out to be a wasted talent.

Well i said we should pick Willis and I have a feeling he won't pan out. Other than that I was super excited for Flynn and thought he would be the guy. Oh and I expected a good season last year. Couldn't forsee the injury though

I can't remember the exact year, sometime between 2011-13, but I told folks that Doug Baldwin was overrated and needed traded. Doug proceeded to go on a 5 game tear that left me eating crow.

Thinking back in 1991 that Dan McGwuire, who happened to be 6'8", could be amazing. I guess we should have selected the QB who got drafted in the second round, by Atlanta. His name was Brett Favre.
