Just curious, what made you choose the Seahawks to be your favorite team?

I'm pretty sure it was the uniforms.
I have no idea why even part of a preseason game involving an expansion team from all the way across the continent would have been on TV in Maine in 1976, because I've checked that year's preseason schedule, and the Seahawks didn't play the Patriots. It might have just been highlights, and I can't ask my dad because he's been gone since late April of 2011. But for whatever reason, they were on TV. I asked my dad who that team was, and he told me. And I decided it was my team. Dad thought it was pretty cool that I had my own favorite team.

That was my first season really following the NFL, and not just catching a few minutes of a game when my dad was watching. I didn't get to see much of the Seahawks that season, other than highlights on the sports segments of news shows (and not even much of that), but my dad kept me up-to-date on what was going on with them. I remember him telling me that two wins was pretty good for an expansion team.

The crazy thing to me, considering that I didn't have any Seahawks gear yet, is that word spread really quickly that I liked the Seahawks. When the Seahawks played the Bills in 1977, that game wasn't on TV. I wasn't interested in the game my dad was watching, so I was outside playing. But as updates on the Seahawks game appeared on the game my dad was watching, he would come outside and tell me. And he did that a lot, because the 'Hawks were kicking a lot of ass. The score got as good as 49-3, and after garbage time, the final score was 56-17.
At some point, other kids from the neighborhood came over to make sure I knew what was happening. That wasn't unexpected, because we played a lot of neighborhood football and talked about football a lot, so the kids on my street knew I liked the Seahawks. But the next day was crazy.
Starting at the bus stop in the morning, then on the bus on the way to school, kids were coming up to me to talk about the game. That continued all day -- on the playground before the first bell, in the classroom, in the hallways and bathroom, in the lunch room, on the playground again at recess, in gym class, and on the bus on the way home. The main topic of most of my conversations that day was the Seahawks having crushed the Bills, and that's extra-surprising because that day was Halloween, which you'd expect to be the main topic of discussion among third graders. I'm not sure how it happened so quickly, but I was already known as the town Seahawks fan.

I let peer pressure affect me in so many ways as a kid and especially as an adolescent, but I never let it affect my choice of a football team. I wore Seahawks gear and it never bothered me that nobody else did.

Name: Red Alice. Smile.
Born: Tempe, Arizona. Grew up a Suns fan. I'm so in love with Barkley. My favorite pic of me and him is so adorable - the top of my head is somewhere between his belly button and his arm pit. He's so wonderful.
Reside: San Diego
Age: Ha. Based on what I've read, younger than most and older than many.
Occupation: Corporate Event Planner
Favorite All-Time Seahawk: Sherman. He's awesome.
Favorite All-Time Ram: Dickerson
Favorite Current Seahawk: Sherman

Favorite Current Ram: Quinn (wait till he plays healthy against you this year. Loves).
Places Other Than StL Dome where I've seen the Rams play: AZ stadium, Philly Stadium

Other Stadiums I've Been To: I'm working on it. So far I've only been to AZ, StL, Philly (multiple times), NO stadium, well and obviously a ton of times to the Charger stadium.

Favorite Seahawk Memory: Game 1 last year. I was in a bar in Amsterdam and the Hawk fans were OFF the chart loud and crazy thinking they were gonna win. I was sweet as pie to them all game. When Rams won, talk about "coulda heard a pin drop" my god was that fun.

Saddest Seahawk Memory: Absolutely you guys losing to the Pats. That hurt.
Favorite Football Movie Of All Time: Blind Side.

Favorite Food: Vodka or Gin, depends on my mood.

Best Seahawk Souvenir: My favorite Seahawks souvenir I bought for someone else was an awesome Hawk bracelet I sent to the Hawk fan who runs a Survivor Pool I play in and have won twice. She LOVED it.

Best Rams Souvenir: My hat from the camp at Oxnard last summer. All the players I adore signed it.

I was so much sweeter almost 5 years ago.

I've been a hit-or-miss poster here for years. I'm 67 years old, retired, worked in the food processing industry for 40 years as a line supervisor. I was born and raised in Walla Walla, graduated from HS there in '73, attended what was then Eastern Washington State College and was in the first ever graduating class from EWU in the fall of 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. After college, I hired on at Carnation Company, lived and worked in Moses Lake from 78-89, got married, had a kid, divorced, then moved to the Tri Cities in '89 where I've lived since. I've been happily married since 2003.

I played football from jr. high through my freshman year in college along with a lot of organized baseball and basketball. I am a Seahawks fan from the get go, split a pair of season tickets with a friend from 1983-96. Giving them up was the worst mistake we made, but I lived a 3.5 hour drive over a mountain pass, the team sucked, they made us pay for two preseason games that no one wanted to go to, and in the days before Ticketmaster and Stub Hub, if you couldn't go to the game and couldn't find a taker, we had to eat them. Little did we know.

We live on a large, 1 acre lot that keeps me busy for about 9 months out of the year. We own a motor home and take a lot of short 2-3 day trips every couple of weeks when weather permits. My wife has both MS and RA, and although she's in relatively good health, doesn't like to travel very much. We have no plans of moving until we're unable to keep up the place or go up and down the stairs. I have one daughter (that I know of) whom is a charge nurse at an urgent care clinic in Spokane and married the greatest SIL that anyone could have hoped for.

I've gone to a lot of Seahawk games, including road games in Arizona X3, Houston, Green Bay, Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, Santa Clara, and London. I usually hit two home games and one road game per season.

Life is good!

I have been on here off and on for 5 or so years.

I'm from California and grew up in a family of 49ers fans. I went to a lot of 49ers games back in the 80's with my family. My favorite 49er player ever is FS/CB Ronnie Lott. 1992-1998 I served in the Marines and back then there was one cable tv for an entire platoon. So, I missed too many games to stay a legit 49er fan. I slowly became a Seahawks fan at my last duty station up at Bangor submarine base in Washington.

I went to my 1st Seahawks game in the early 2000's before they were considered good. I went on to have season tickets for 4 or 5 years, during Coach Holmgren's peak with the Seahawks.

My best Seahawks memory was the 2006 NFC Championship game the Seahawks vs the Panthers. WR Joe Jurevicius pointed up to me and my friend, after the game, as he was heading into the Seahawks player's tunnel. That was one of my best life memories ever.

Favorite former Seahawks player: RB Marshawn Lynch
Favorite current Seahawks player: WR D.K. Metcalf
Current future All-Pro Seahawks player: OLB Darrel Taylor

Welcome, RunDownhill, and please post often. Unless the 49er influence begins to return... then we'll need to provide an intervention for you. (y)

My name is Chris and I signed up today. Have seen maybe 20 or so Hawks games dating back to the early 90s in the Kingdome. I've lived in Seattle a couple times, currently am back in Boise. Our daughter is a huge Hawks fan as are most of my family from Portland, Port Angeles, Moses Lake etc. I have to be honest....I'm a Dolphins fan, but I like Seattle . I miss going to F /X McRorys before games, I know that. My older brother who lived in Edmonds passed away two yrs ago at 59 and I think it's why I registered here. He and I used to lurk around here but he never signed up. Anyways, Good Luck you guys, sure hated seeing Russ and Bobby leave.

I was so much sweeter almost 5 years ago.

Suns broke my heart this week.

If that is any consolation to all you Hawk fans.

I hadn't read what I wrote here, but it is true. I love the Suns as much as I love the Rams.

Welcome, MtM! I'm glad she left you with something worth hanging on to.

This site could use more people skilled in mental health work... maybe even enough data for an(other?) advanced degree! ;)
