While all of you are whining about stuff that none of us know a thing about, I want to watch Paul Richardson's highlights from last night
.com says he was offensive player on the game, so why no highlights?
If anybody finds it at any point, feel free to post it. I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.

I second that.

I don't know if there could be highlights of him from that game.

Maybe that little juke but taken out of context it wouldn't matter.

I think the thing with him is that a lot of people expected him to do his best impression of Joey Galloway where he just goes long and the QB tries to throw the ball hard enough to reach him.

But he was consistent and he seemed to catch anything in his radius. He didn't need to make crazy juggling catches or one-handed grabs because he was in the right position and caught the ball cleanly.

I think the pleasant surprise is that he looks like he could be an every down player (though I didn't see his blocking so anyone that can chime in on that would be great - I assume given his size it might be below standard?)

I wouldn't really say there were anything special. IIRC he made like 3 catches, got a couple first downs. Looked like a solid WR, but didn't demonstrate any of the electric speed. I thought he did great. Just bummed that we didn't see any Norwood, I hope he can be ready to play in the last preseason game, I think he could be a factor and would like to see him make the team.

I think this is one of those instances where you have to watch the flow of the game to appreciate the stuff Richardson showed. He didn't get deep. But he looked extremely smooth in getting to his spots and on comeback routes. The completions themselves were short-to-intermediate and unspectacular. However, just the ability to get separation in those areas and pull in catches was great to see. (1) I've felt that ability has been something that's sort of lacking within Seattle's receiving corps when Tate was WR1, and (2) it showed he could do more right away than be a pure go-route specialist.

Actually, this is exactly what I hoped to see. There are many lingering critics who tend to lean on the 'he is a fly pattern specialist' only opinion. In this game, he performed excellently doing the kinds of patterns that well rounded WRs need to do. Catch the short/intermediate passes. Make guys miss in short zones and get extra yards. Take hits and play amongst the safeties/LBs.

We know RIchardson can run the 9. But he displayed the ability to run tougher garden variety short stuff too. That was very reassuring for me. He looked comfortable playing a complete game and was productive doing it. If he can be that, then he and Harvin are very interchangeable and can force pressure on defenses equally. Allowing for a much greater chance for us exploiting coverage mistakes.

He showed a strong flash of being what we hoped he would be as a complement to Harvin. If both can be complete WRs, we will have something special.

Another good point I saw raised by Twitter folks: those comeback routes and other short-intermediate stuff should be there for him all day if he executes well. Teams will have the scouting report on his speed and will have to play him with a cushion. If he can kill them with that stuff, then the deep plays should open themselves up later on.

My BIGGGEST thing about last nights game was watching P-Rich catch the ball from TJack in the two minute drill and immediately got up gave the ball to the ref and lined up .. This kind of game intelligence isn't taught . (if Lockette makes this catch we probably see a little dance and 10 more seconds off the clock )

When Warren Moon was Hawks qb his nickname for him was "Joey Gal"

Echo DavidSeven in that given the flow of the game and limited opportunities, Prich did not hurt his standing and in fact showed some things that encouraged me re: not being limited to go routes. Still excited to see him out there lining up with Baldwin (so clutch again!) and Harvin. Feels like Baldwin is more than capable of having Tate production if need be, and that Prich out there will be another dimension that we didn't have last year.

That can't be overstated. Most rookies are so preoccupied with remembering the play and getting the route right that they don't have the presence of mind for something like that.

Ice water baby! He's way ahead of where Tate was at this point.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Great awareness by the rook.

It seemed like Richardson was getting good separation, which is something people complained about a lot last year, so that's definitely something to be optimistic about.

He got no deep routes because the safety was covering him over the top.

Think about that. The rookie had an immediate impact on how the defense played. They respected his speed and gave up the underneath stuff and he took it.

Now think about the conundrum they'll be facing with Harvin AND Richardson out there. Richardson will get his deep routes.

Throw in Baldwin, Willson, and Lynch/Michael.

I came to that realization about a day after we drafted him after looking at his tape more closely. It really became obvious where Pete/John's line of thinking was when they regarded him so much more highly than many other WRs in that same range.

That's precisely why I was so excited to see him perform as he did last night. For that idea to become reality, Richardson is going to have to be able the produce in the short/mid range too. Like a fireball pitcher, these routes are his change up. If he and Harvin can be multidimensional and interchangeable -- then the combinations between the two players is almost limitless. Defenses are going to have to choose to defend one and the other should be open in space.

Not to mention the inability to roll your defense to the other side where Baldwin or Kearse may be working.

And if Norwood lives up to his potential he'll be working underneath. JS rocks!

I can easily wait a week.

That field in Denver looked treacherous and slow. A terribly substandard field. Shame on you John Elway.

Looking forward to seeing Paul Richardson and the rest of the Seahawks on a 1st class football field. :th2thumbs: in Seattle.

Norwood was a 4th round pick, let's hope he exceeds his potential. :th2thumbs:
