Of course he would sign for a day and retire, but is there any chance of him being a Seahawks his entire career?

Yes. No doubt about it. As long as he's healthy for the duration of his career and doesn't just fall off a cliff

Never say never...there are circumstances where he leaves.

Yes. Even if he leaves and plays for another team he will sign a one day contract and retire a Hawk.

really hard to predict.

On one hand, RW is a guy who loves playing so he could want to play longer into his later years than the seahawks want to keep him ala all those other QB's. I also wouldn't put it past him to happily go to another team just to see if he can meet the challenge of being successful in more than one place.

On the flip side, he seems like a smart enough guy who has enough passion for whatever he does in life to maybe not want to hang around watching himself decline if it means he can go and do something else he can strive to be good at post-football.

I'm going to say "no" that he stays a hawk for life, only because of the odds.

RW will want to play as long as he physically can. If he has a long career of 15+ years, he's obviously going to outlast Pete Carroll and John Schneider. We have no idea who is going to come in after them, what the state of the team will be, the philosophy, etc. At some point the decision makers feel that an old QB isn't worth that much of the salary cap (especially as RW loses his elusiveness and mobility) and they move on. Chances are that RW will have to go elsewhere for a couple years if he plays that long.

Why would you think he would out live Schneider here?

I think he will be here as long as Pete is, out of comfort and loyalty. After that, who knows?

Hopefully he will find a nice local girl to marry and make leaving that much harder.

Yeah, possible John stays as the GM/VP of Football Ops for many years and the eventual replacement for Pete is simply a HC. I'm hopeful.

Too many pedants around here.

RW will play here until the wheels fall off, or until he doesn't want to play here. Seeing as he likes playing here I suspect the short answer is likely yes.

He could have an All Pro & HOF career here if he follows up on his start at any sort of similar pace. Seattle will pay him and it will be money well spent.

Basing any negative comment on a career here based upon probability is silly thinking. Reality is who TF knows for sure but considering his performance to date probability is high.

If there ever was an "opinion post", this is it! Russell could easily play for another 12-14 years. Things would really have to change for the Hawks for Russell to leave Seattle.....IMO.
