Hey guys ‏@BestGuyAround 14m

"We’ll see what the Saints can do about that.”

"They kept throwing the football, running some gadget plays, and they were up big. Sean Payton told his team after the game"

“Sean Payton and the Saints’ coaches were none too happy about the way the Seahawks ran their offense late in the game....

Hey guys ‏@BestGuyAround 15m

Quote came from Schefter on ESPN today regarding storylines etc.
Sean Payton is claiming that the Seahawks ran up the score on the Saints in their last match up.

Defense.

On a more serious note, I do not get these teams that are butthurt for running up the score. You have no one else to blame but yourself for letting the game get out of hand

Whatever they feel they need to tell themselves to get pumped up I guess.

Pretty confident our guys will be just as pumped knowing they can beat them so badly they could run the score up

This is after the huge comeback we saw this last weekend?

Seems like Bills came back from 35 down in the playoffs one time.

Loser talk.

Seattle scored 7 points in the second half, none in the 4th.

Yawn.

Seattle scored 0 points in the fourth quarter and only 7 total in the second half. That's running up the score? Someone should be apologizing to his team for letting them get embarrassed in the first half.

Whats funny is that we ran the ball almost the whole fourth quarter and we didn’t score a point in the last 22 minutes. And the Saints are known as a team who runs up the score against everyone at their home games. They have Brees passing in the fourth quarter of games even if they are up by 21+. Remember when they ran up the score on Dallas and went for the record of most 1st downs in a game earlier this year?

Whatever. He's just grasping for any little extra motivating factors he can plant in his team's head. As Bill Parcells once said, there is no running up the score in the NFL.

Btw, Payton's Saints have been accused MANY times by other teams of running up the score. In 2011 the Falcons accused Payton and Brees of running up the score for a game Brees was trying to break Marino's TD record.

This. I'd do the same thing all over again. Securing the win is the primary objective.

Payton's right. Hawks scored a whoopin seven points in the second half. Way to run up the score, Sean.

Good thing people didn't pay to watch the game .... Oh, wait.

Seven points isn't running up the score, and off course we try 'n control the ball. People pay a lot of money to wath the NFL. The last thing you do is take a knee early in the third, Payton. Dear me.

He's trying to motivate and rile up his players after getting their butt kicked. Standard coaching stuff. Nothing substantive here.

The media is just trying to make something out of this to drum up ratings and a rivalry where it doesn't exist.

Media trying to gin up controversy (and headlines) in a game pitting two teams that genuinely respect each other. I'll bet the Saints dispute this story at some point in the week and it dies a forgotten death before this weekend.

Seahawks 2nd half drives:

3Q:

R, R, P, Punt

P, P, P, P, R, R, P, R, P - TD

P, R, P, R, Punt

4Q

R (Gadget to Lockette), R, Sack, Punt

R, P, P, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, R, P, R

Kneel

19 runs, 13 pass, 1 gadget play.

Can't really blame seattle for taking the plays they are given.

Get used to this kind of thing, it's going to get worse. Remember the Jerramy Stevens stuff they were reporting before XL?

They'll run out of stuff to talk about before each game we advance to, so they'll be digging deep to try and come up with some controversy to talk about. Hell, we'll probably know how many unpaid parking tickets each player has before it's all over.

He should have pulled Brees earlier if he was so concerned about that.

Blown out teams can't have their cake and eat it, too. If you want to scream mercy, then pull your guys and raise the white flag. Until then, game on.

Seriously? in the fall of 2010 at New Orleans, Seattle lost 34-19, Brees had 4 touchdown passes. At the VERY END of that game Payton took a TO and had Brees throw on fourth down to get another TD instead of kneeling, and I was PISSED. Then Earl picked him off in the endzone, and I thought that was some sweet payback but was still steamed. Then a couple months later there was some REAL payback - karma's a beeeyotch :D

Well, I've heard that it is better to be pissed off than pissed on.

That will come this weekend. ;)

What a completely disengenous hypocrite. On 12/26/11, New Orleans beat Atlanta 45-16...a game in which Drew Brees kept throwing for no other purpose than getting Brees the yardage record. That included a TD throw with 2:51 left. Such crap.
