You missed the point. It's something an old person would think young people would like, but because old people are so out of touch, they miss the mark completely to the point of being hilarious.

It's pretty to look at as an illustration. But the thing that really makes a helmet look good is what's in it. The solid color mode is to me a statement of class as compared to something that is an attempt to be splashy "cool".

I respectfully disagree. You can absolutely design toward longevity in appeal. I used to think like you do, but I've been married to a graphic designer for 14 years.
