Pretty cool Leon story.
This couple came into my bar during the season and I had the Oregon/WSU game on the TV. I was visibly rooting for the Cougs so the dude asks me if I'm from Seattle? I tell him no, that I went to school there and consider it a second home, I love the place. He tells me about how his job might relocate him to Redmond there in a few weeks. He seemed a bit nervous and had never been out there and only heard the typical Seattle stereotypes. I started trying to ease his fears and then his wife chimes in that they know somebody that lives in Seattle and plays for the NFL team there. I absolutely lose my shiz and ask them who, since I'll definitely know who it is. The wife didn't want to at first, but I eventually got her to cave so she tells me that his name is Leon. I immediately shout "LEON!" and start going nuts. I tell her Leon's the man, been a big fan since his FSU days and she says that's where she met Leon's wife. Says that Leon has lived a tough, hard life and that he's a man of amazing character and one of the best, most genuine people she knows. You have no idea how great it felt to hear that for some reason.
It doesn't end there. She texts Leon and tells Leon about me. Leon asks for my address and if I have twitter. He gives me a shoutout on twitter and then sends me an autographed picture in the mail. Absolute class.
I sincerely hope that the market for him is dry (it probably won't be) and that he ends up back in Seattle, where he belongs, albeit on a cheaper contract. It won't happen but I can dream, right? That's what being a Seahawks fan is all about!
