I don't know whether the Seahawks tried to trade up for Penix and to me it isn't important. The Seahawks don't have to justify anything to Smith. They made their position abundantly clear when his contract guarantee was picked up in February. Smith is a value for money piece that can be traded for the right price and in the right situation.

This straight up does not pass the smell test, and I'm inclined to believe Crabtree wholeheartedly.

They wouldn't have traded for Howell. Straight up. They got their "prospect" then and there and took QB off the realistic set of options.

They wouldn't have randomly given up capital for Howell if they knew they needed to trade up for Penix.

I look at it like our first and second picks of this years draft are two incredible IDLs.

Additionally, my opinion is that Sam Howell will have a better career than 4-5 of those QBs that were drafted.

I don’t see anything negative about this draft sans our lack of picks.
