If its guarantees that are the sticking point then go for it and sign him. Dude hasn't missed a game and if he gets a season ending injury, the season is going down the drain anyway.

I agree with Budda.

Especially the part about seeing Seahawks fans hating on Russ.

If it's really about getting GTD money in line with those guys and that's the hold up Wilson and his agent should just walk right out the door and demand a trade. That's patently ridiculous.

Highly doubt that's the sticking point....or at least the sole one.

John and Pete aren't idiots.

Considering the chatter about wanting to "break the mold" of QB contracts (whatever that means) it would seem much more likely to be something surrounding that honestly.

Wilson is great....but to play devils advocate, I see less Russ hating here and more concern over what paying that much to any QB can do to your overall roster.

Of course there are some Russ haters sprinkled in here and there, but lets be honest, if Russ goes to NY, he's going to really find out what it's like to be hated on. We treat him with SPECTACULAR kids gloves in comparison to the East Coast.

It is OK to be critical of Russ, his play, and his handling of this situation if warranted. Not every crticism needs to be met with the hater tag.

Who is next to Russ in that picture? Serious size difference.

So, does anyone really think the Hawks wouldn’t give Wilson the guaranteed money he’s demanding?

No, IMO, there’s something else going on because I cannot believe the team would not make him the highest paid QB.

There’s speculation Wilson wants 18% of the salary cap, If this is the case, would you agree?

If this agreement was in place today, his cap number would not be 17Mil, it would be 31Mil. Next year it would be 34Mil. This would make resigning players extremely difficult.

Traditional contracts backload money, spreading guaranteed money or bonuses over the life of the contract. You can’t do this under his 18% salary cap demands. It like tagging Wilson every year.

IMO, his 18% pay based on salary cap demand is a poison pill.

I don't agree...but, I also don't agree with the NFLs CBA. If I'm Russ, I don't think I settle for anything less than what I can get. When you factor in the offense (lack of passing), the pressure....especially from 2017, what other QBs are getting paid, etc...I think he has to try and get what he can.

It's a bad situation. My post above this one is sheer frustration.

The Hawks pay him and they're likely to still compete but, not go far playoff wise (if the team even makes it there). If you gamble with a trade, clear the cap a bit...you're more likely than not to end up struggling at QB while being at risk with draft "busts".

May sound greedy but...I'd go and get what the NFL has ultimately decided is my net worth...

Ugh....

Why does this team consistently just refuse to pay the star players, our best players?

The god damn franchise QB we have and still nothing.

If fans should be upset at anyone it's the front office who consistently love to refuse to pay players who deserve it and thus alienate not only the players themselves but the fans.

Every other team that is in need of a QB would sign Russ to what he deserves in an instant but nah we're the Seahawks, it's our way. Doesn't matter if you're by far the most important piece to the puzzle of this team or not.

What in the world are you talking about? We paid all of our best players top contracts, including Marshawn, Russ, Bobby, Earl, Kam, Sherman, Bennett, KJ, Doug, and Lockett. Last time around on Russ we made him the 2nd highest paid player in NFL history right behind Aaron Rodgers. Who are the "best players" that you think we didn't pay, and in what version of reality that features a salary cap do you think we could have paid them?

What are you talking about? Do you personally have knowledge of exactly what RW wants? Has he asked for a % of the cap? Does he want $200 million guaranteed? Does he want Wenhawk's first born child?

IIRC: The 'Hawks have paid good money to productive players. So why don't you tell us about the multitudes of players whom the 'Hawks let get away?

Sheesh!

If this is the case trade him that would be the poison pill we don't do well IMO on first rounders but get the 1st for him and trade down Kap durning his tenure was very good.

Maybe Russ needs to stick with an agent that does NFL instead of MLB I for one would hate to see him go just like Lynch, Sherman, Earl, Kam, IDK we probably won't see another SB anyway were not the Pats But I will continue to say every year The Hawks are going to the BOWL.
