First off, h/t to Fade for inspiring this post with the phrase "This is Pete's Purgatory".

Is it Pete's or is it ours? Or is it both?

Regardless, we have absolutely come to the point where every game can be broken down (win or loss) by what we have endured over the last 10 plus years with PC as the Head Coach. There are no surprises here. We know how the season is going to end. We know that the Hawks will lose to division rivals much less talented, etc. because Pete is so predictable. Will we draft talent? No. Because Pete has to find those diamonds in the rough and develop them to maintain his ego.

Only Pete has the power to change things. And move on, out of Purgatory. Will he, or will he hold onto the past with gnarled fingers? Only time will tell.

In the mean time, enjoy another B- season. Everyone gets a ribbon!

You folks might want a refresher on what "purgatory" means.

Yep. Purgatory is a temporary place of purification before reaching heaven. So Pete's Purgatory reads more like trust the process than anything inherently negative.

Yeah but

" the guys were battling, fighting to the very end "

Almost.......
"The guys fought like heck"
"We just need to clean up a few things".

Pete will never make the post-game media Hall of Fame until the the Pete Presser where he answers every question with, "It's on to Philadelphia".
He's got some truly heavyweight competition for immortality, and he hasn't done diddly-poo to earn his spot.
Dennis Green, Jim Mora, Mike Singletary, those guys are all in my top 5, and probably Ditka too ("Mike, why are you in a bad mood today?")

Pete's lame-ass pressers usually just follow a template, pull a few cliches from this bowl, a few other cliches from that bowl, and call it good.

All of us nattering nabobs of negativism have no idea what alliteration means.
Not sure if this question was in jest, and this is just a guess, but Pete’s Hell (not an alliteration) does not sound as good as Pete’s Purgatory (an alliteration).

never mind, as rjdriver said, well done!!

Pete's always done a good job of pretending he cares about the question, then spinning it into a word salad of nothing.

But what coach is actually forthright and honest with the press? This is the way it should be, it's how you engender trust inside your locker room and organization.........by not divulging anything of real substance.

There was one... for a while... the EARLY Brian Schmetzer season with the Sounders. Now, he's more coach-speak than not. Oops, wrong sport.
Welp, for football, we have to go back a ways, but I'm going with Dennis Green's classic, "We let 'em off the hook!"

Honorable mention to Mike Ditka and "Mike, why are you in such a bad mood", except that one was after a PRACTICE, not a game, not even a real game...
