IDL Jordan Elliott of Missouri

Elliott started his college career at Texas but transferred to Missouri after his freshman year. At Missouri, he played two seasons, including starting 12 games last season. In 2019, he had 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and three sacks. He was a team captain and led his team in tackles for loss. He was my sixth rated interior defensive lineman in the class.

DE Kenny Willekes (seventh round)

This year, Minnesota again selected another 3-technique defensive tackle in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Last season, Baylor defensive lineman James Lynch was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and became the school’s all-time career sacks leader (22). Lynch was one of the most disruptive defensive line prospects in the entire country. In 2019, he posted a whopping 19.5 tackles-for-loss and 13.5 sacks. Lynch played defensive end at Baylor, but occasionally kicked inside.

Is there any reasonable likelihood either of these two players will be available at Cutdown?

Elliott was drafted by Cleveland in the 3rd Rd. and Willekes was drafted by Minnie in the 7th? I somehow doubt they will be available. The team is more likely to find a close to washed up vet being axed for cap reasons. The waiver order will work against the team with younger players and experienced guys will want and would likely be paid more.

I liked both players and wanted Elliott in the draft, don' treally understand why Willekes dropped to the 7th round and could have been picked by the Hawks instead of Sullivan.

Still think Brandon Williams' $9.25M salary could/should make him a cap cut in Baltimore (esp. at 31 years old). If/when that happens, I'd expect the Hawks to have interest.

First off, we drafted two DE this year and have 2 other young prospects 2 go with 2 vets. Do we really need to take on 2 more prospects?

Secondly is any year one DT prospect going to be any better than Christmas?

Much more likely to find a veteran run stuffer than get a prospect that might not be any better than your own prospects you've been grooming for two years (Mone, Christmas).

Willekes and Elliot are better than Mone or Christmas any day of the week. Willekes is considered a 3-tech. Elliot is a DT, not a DE.

Besides, when are we getting Darrell Taylor back?

Even though Alton Robinson is a 5th round DE, I expect him to play like a 2nd rounder at least, and he's big enough he could play inside if needed. But we need some run stuffers.

Minnesota, after trading for Ngaukoue can let go of a 7th rounder. Willekes was gone long before Seattle drafted Sullivan.

One other thing, I expect John Schneider is offering 6th and 7th round picks to teams for DTs in order to get them before they are cut.

If JS believes a DT is worth it, I"m sure he'd go even higher.

Cut downs are extremely difficult for teams, which makes it a great time for our FO to be wheeling and dealing.

There will be 1184 new free agents on Saturday. Depth shouldn't be a problem, but quality...

Don't worry about it so much this season .The Hawks have enough D to compete . Wilson and the O will be responsible for points , and I think they will put up some big numbers this year . No crowd noise might be a good thing . :D
