It was really too bad the Vikings game didn't allow him to finish. Look at our division rivals with Crabtree. He was making some plays early but it took him awhile to get fully in-synch with the QB before they got back to their rhythm. And they had played a half-season together the prior year.
With no feel for one another, besides practice I am going to be surprised if he and Wilson are able to hook up more than just on dink and dunk pass plays. Even with Kearse, Baldwin and Tate, Wilson tends to throw passes they need to slow up for.
Totally agree and I'd be stoked if they just stayed with the "long handoffs".
Everyone praises Harvin's "incredible speed" but Harvin, IMO, is more quick than fast. One of the (few) raps on him was that he wasn't necessarily a 1 that stretches the field. To them I remind..so what? neither was Jerry Rice.
I was surprised to see us going deep to Harvin. It almost felt like it was something Harvin wanted, to show that he has that weapon in his arsenal. That ability / threat is definitely beneficial to the O, but IMO, we don't need that from him and as you suggest, his jump timing could leave him exposed to injury. It was popular to blame Ponder for the dinking and doinking (10 yards at a time) but hey...if it's not broke, why fix it? Lets just get him the ball and let him work. Wash, rinse, repeat, hand the ball to Marshawn. Hello Lombardi!
