Agreed. We can have discussions on how effective he may be as a head coach currently, no doubt. I don't think it can be disputed though that as a all-around person who is 100% committed to seeing his players and staff succeed in life (not just in football), along with the numerous actions he has done for the communities he has been in, how much of a positive impact he is to anyone that has the opportunity to be in his presence.

I didn’t extrapolate this at all. It could be a tinge of projection - ?

I think he's articulated exactly what happened - they didn't put together a team that met expectations, especially on defense. The same thing that has been said here, even by people that didn't want him gone. No backstabbing as far as I can tell.

Compare what has happened since the end of the season with the few weeks before Russ was traded. The organizations has been very, very silent. He was told privately, and he's able to discuss it in a press conference rather than escorted out the door.

Heartbreaking for sure...his heart was there..no doubt...I'm not sure if I was reading too much into it, but it sounds like John will continue to stay with the organization as Pete had his full support of him going forward.

I LOVE Pete Carroll and as hard as this is to watch I really think it was time. I see why it took Jody a while to do it. He's so damn genuine and positive.

Some ESPN analyst’s think organizations that need a coach will reach out to him to right their ships and get them going in the right
Direction. Named LA and the Raiders as potential landing spots. Can you imagine if he did take a job for example like the Raiders and brought in Russell Wilson?

Love Pete and thankful for these 14 years. This is the exact press conference I expected -- he's still hungry, just like he was hungry on week 18 of this year. He didn't give up, he wasn't done. You can only hope that his replacement has half the drive.

PC is probably the best and most important hire the Hawks have ever made. He, Paul Allen, and Mike Holmgren are responsible for the greatest era of football in Seahawk history. I hope he still has an important role with the Seahawks for years to come.

It sucks in some ways, a genuine, nice, giving and caring person has to step away just because it's time for a new beginning. Opens the door for John to have his chance to build it his way but try to keep the culture of what he and Pete put together intact.

-- This is an example of why many of us long timers were a little more apprehensive about moving on. When you have loved this team through the Bald Behring years, and the Mora year, you really know what you can be proud of, and what you can't. Everyone assumes a new hotshot coach is always the answer, but didn't five or so of them just get fired?

-- Hope whoever has final say on the new hire, can see through the BS and hire a coach we can enjoy, but also be proud of.
