Kam got what he wanted out of the first deal. A house for his mom and some financial security. Now that he has that he wants more. If you give him more he will want more than that in a couple of years.

He can hang out if Virginia and teach aerobics classes. That is the best move for the Seahawks in the long run.

If this team was owned by an idiot like Dan Snyder he would already have a new deal. Fortunately we have a forward thinking owner and front office.

I have 2 horses in my pasture, I would gladly fork over several pounds of horse shit to Kams salary.

I don't know what is more shocking.....Kam's mind numbingly stupid holdout.....or the fact that there are intelligent Seahawk fans who are actually defending him.

Sure- but he would have better case argument as a contributor, versus a no show-

If the Hawks were willing to move 3m from 2017 to 2016- and he was in house, he would have a short walk to get some guaranteed in 2016- point being he is a detractor- and the team needs to move in a positive way-

Talk about petty- Kam is showing the true definition of that...

So for the Kam supporters, where does personal accountability come in? He signed the deal with his agent as the catalyst. At the time, which was such a very short time ago, he called himself "blessed." A couple of Owl appearances later and now that blessing is disrespect? GTFO.

Hold firm, Hawks.

I agree...if he turned down 2016 guaranteed plus $3.1M moved from 17 to 16 then he is completely at fault here and he and his agent are complete freaking morons. I have been saying all along...if that was the offer at some point I can not believe they didn't get it done.

Looks like Kam chose the wrong position to play.

You'd have a point if any of those contracts were out of line for the positions.

OK. So let's move past the numbers for just one minute. Let's look at the possibility of whether or not this relationship can actually be SAVED. Because that's the question, isn't it? People much smarter than you or I will figure out the numbers if this somehow gets resolved. But as fans, let's talk about the fact that Kam will have missed, at a minimum, two games. He hasn't talked to Earl Thomas in over a month. He hasn't talked to Richard Sherman in three weeks. That's the backbone of this defense, and Kam hasn't been in touch with either of these two guys.

The fans are overwhelming on the Seahawks side. I talked with a lifelong, 20+ season ticket holder today that told me he'd rather have the Seahawks finish 0-16 than give in to even one of Kam's wants.

It seems severed now. And numbers aside, I don't see how this all fits together. How can this dude just walk in the locker room and think that things are going to be just fine? That's what I can't get past.

We pay him, as the OP suggested. What then? I'm genuinely asking. There has not been a holdout of this magnitude under the current CBA. That's a undeniable FACT. So let's say this thing gets handled... What then?

Think this through.

Personally, I think this charade has went beyond the point of no return.

He is completely at fault either way. Don't put a qualifier on it.

They would have to find a way for Kam to save face. I am sure at this point he wishes he never held out but he can't come back now without a new deal unless he fires his agent because his agent is going to look like a complete fool when all is said and done and worse if Kam gets nothing. I know the buck stops at Kam but when agents are fighting over players rival agents are always going to say "look how much he f'ed up Kam Chancellor". No way does Kam's agent let him just come back for nothing before week 10. I really thing this week is it. He is either back on Tuesday or he will just come back week 10.

Not sure how he can save face. This has been, at worst, the most incomprehensible holdout over the past 10 years.

People will see right through it. Especially the 50K+ fans he had on Twitter that he has since blocked.

Rob12, even if Kam were to return to the fold, we would never know as fans what kind of reception he'd get in that locker room. It's the code, right?

But since it's fun to speculate, I think he'd be a man about it and just ask them to welcome him back. They all know it's a business (even to the chagrin of us fans most of the time) and I totally believe they'd let bygones be bygones and accept him back. Remember, he does a lot of things that make them look good, too, and looking good means more payola.

I even think Pete, the staff, John and PA would be good with it. He'd likely to have a closed-door session with Pete, but I think they'd bro hug it out and get back to the business of being the BOOM.

I realize that Kam is a man of conviction and might not be willing to budge, but man, this is his life, he's still relatively young with boatloads of earning potential and he must miss the game and his teammates.

Upon his return, us fans will get the standard "both sides came to a mutual agreement" non-descript summation to the end of the holdout, but who really cares? He'd be back on the field in a week, punishing opposing ballcarriers and we'd be cheering our lungs out for him again. Right? I know I would.

Perhaps you're confusing defending Kam with trying to imagine a way to resolve the situation.

This whole thing reminds me of the Emmitt Smith situation. They started out 0-2 when he held out. Charles Haley went nuts in the locker room, and some of the players made it very known they wanted him back. They got a deal done, and they went on to win the Super Bowl that season. Of course, I don't remember Emmitt being 2 years in to a 5 year deal, but just thinking about that situation. Some players are that important to the team overall.

They cannot sign shorter deals as a solution at all.

Because if they get hurt, they cannot sign a deal period. That is the problem.

So let me get this straight. The players like longer deals for more security, but they also like to renegotiate after only two years now when everyone else is making more money. That's an amazing deal for them!

Sorry man, doesn't work for me. Kam did what all the players do, sign a 4-5 year deal with the majority of their bonus and guaranteed money up front so if they get hurt during the contract chances are they've made all their guaranteed money..........or at least most of it.

The players know how this works. Get to your last year, and get paid again. Kam's the one trying to turn the NFL on it's head with this nonsense.
Players don't take longer deals for more security. They have NO security in the NFL. The NFL can tear up a contract just like snapping their fingers. You're Cut. That's it. Got hurt? No more money for you. Buh Bye.

If players had THEIR way, they'd all be signing one year deals so as to maximize their profits. It's the NFL that wants long term contracts that they can tear up anytime they want. Taht's what gives THEM security.

You have it ass sdrawkcab.

Gasp! no guarantees??? cut at anytime you mean its like the real world n stuff?

Not at all.

The only resolution is Kam growing up and getting to work.

If fans here are speculating about what the team should do, then they are acknowledging that Kam has some sort of merit to his holdout, which is ridiculous.

The Seahawks should do absolutely nothing, and I hope they don't. I can't fathom why a fan of our team would have any other stance.

Well the Seahawks were going to do something for him (and likely will if this is to be resolved before week 10) so I guess John and Pete are in this camp as well.
