Yeah, this is the best we could have done the way the draft fell. Best wr and best corner, by all opinions, in the draft. Also, 2 expensive positions that are locked in on rookie contracts for 4 years, leaves room to hit free agency and pay the performers. Plenty of trench guys left, and taking edge rushers with what was there at 5 and 20 would have been a stretch. There was a reason so many teams passed on Carter. A dude who shows up with man boobs to his pro day (which he was too out of shape to even finish) is not someone John and pete, as well as any of the other top ten picks, were willing to roll the dice on.

We got known quantities, best of class with the first 2 picks. Weren't rolling dice or reaching for need. Solid A for first day.

Other that trading down, which h I'm sure they were trying to do both times but weren't getting the value they needed.

People that didn’t like our 2 picks need to wait till the games are played. 3 more teams after us that all could have used Carter passed on him. He’s got red flags, conditioning issues and also looked bad in the playoffs and at pro day. We did just fine

At the very least, they should get a blow and go attached to their mouse and keyboard. Some of the posts here against the picks have been completely vile and disgusting for fans to say about their own.

Not aiming this at you. Just wanted to bolt that on

If, as many here have suggested, 2023 is more analogous to 2012 than 2013, then this draft makes a lot more sense.

If we were in win now mode, then a Jalen Carter gamble, or a Tyree Wilson, would have been a better take at 5.

If our target is 2024, then there is no need to take on the risk of a Carter. Take the BPA (on your draft board) regardless of whether it fills your most pressing need. We still have 8 more 2023 picks, and 7 in 2024 plus 2024 free agency before we make the big run.
