From what I can see his cap hit for 2018 will be $2,400,000. ($1M base + $1.1M signing bonus prorated + $300K roster bonus).

That seems to be like fantastic value, I don't agree with the posters that think he will be switched to full time DE, though. He was be a situational pass rusher but not full time.

I love this signing. Fantastic pickup.

Seems lots of his incentives with be classed as NLTBE (not likely to be earned) so won't count towards the 2018 cap however if reached will be taken from 2019's funds, that's a win win for the team.

Mingo's explosiveness is similar to Khalil Mack's:

Mack's 40: 4.65
Mingo's 40: 4.58

Mack's 10-yard split: 1.53
Mingo's 10-yard split: 1.55

Mack's broad jump: 128''
Mingo's broad jump: 128''

Mack's vertical: 40''
Mingo's vertical: 37''

Mack's three-cone: 7.08
Mingo's three-cone: 6.84

Mack's short shuttle: 4.18
Mingo's short shuttle: 4.39

Khalil Mack has 36.5 sacks the past 3 seasons and Mingo has 2.

Mingo has been used wrong during his career. Now he's surrounded by a coaching staff that could use him at a better position, and we didn't break the bank for him at all. Another Dion Jordan.

I'm wondering if we could have saved some cash by using candy as an incentive?

Hooray! We signed someone!

Or are we still angry that it's not 2014 again?

I agree with the above post.

Mingo is an exceptional athlete and strong in run D with some abilities as a 3-4 OLB pass rusher.

His listed 2 year deal is for $6.8 mil but with incentives it could reach $10 mil. which isn't bad. As well this signing gives the team a player who has proven he can play SOLB in the NFL and the team needed help at that position.

That's it in a nutshell.
I'm looking forward to seeing Norton Coach up Mingo. :2thumbs:

Like I said in my thread that was locked, I think he has the exact tools we need to play him at SS. I hope Chancellor will return full force of course, but he can't play for ever. Mingo I think would succeed at the position change.

Just because his physical traits match up doesn't mean he would understand the X's n O's of that position. It's a completely different technique and he'd suddenly have to play a position he's never played in the PRO's or College.

If that were the goal, I don't think we would have signed him for 2 years.

I like it a former sixth overall pick he has some chops . My guess he starts at outside LB . Defensively i'm not to worried about our front seven I think we'll be fine there next year even without Cliff and Michael.

EXACTLY Dion Jordan, B-Wags, Mingo, Frank Clark, KJ.

Cool video! He does play a lot like Bruce Irvin did.

Getting younger.

Normally, you would think that getting younger would lead to more explosiveness, but less discipline.

One cannot argue, however, that the most penalized, albeit veteran defense in the league was disciplined...at all.

In other words, if your team is going to give up first downs with mental mistakes, you might as well have young players doing it.
