Yeah guys. There is no way the patriots would have any control over the power in their own stadium.

I'm sure the equipment guy accidentally dropped Tomlin's headset in the urinal when he stopped to take a quick piss while on his way to drop off the game balls to the side lines. It happens.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Don’t blame the New England Patriots for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ headset issues during Thursday night’s opener, the NFL says.

League spokesman Michael Signora said in a statement after the game it was a “stadium power infrastructure issue, which was exacerbated by the inclement weather” that caused the interference that left Steelers coach Mike Tomlin seething after the Patriots’ 28-21 win.

“The coaches’ communications equipment, including the headsets, is provided by the NFL for both clubs use on game day,” Signora’s statement said. “Once the power issue was addressed, the equipment functioned properly with no additional issues.”

Yep something is rotten in Foxborough. For the league to come out so quick to try and shoot this thing down is also very telling that they may be hiding something as well. As Tomlin says this ALWAYS happens HERE.

.....and to blame it on the weather???? Really??? There have been tons of crappy weather games in Seattle and I don't ever recall communication problems with the equipment.

NFL spokesperson says NFL is in control of the equipment. This is a non-story. It really is as much as some of us would like it to be.

In any case, now we are on to the games that matter

Just because the NFL provides the equipment doesn't mean that have "control" over it.

And just because Bill Bellicheat said "we had problems too" doesn't mean that he really did. Sounds great to those that want to hear just that.

Headsets and radio communications can be interfered with by outsiders who know how they work and what the rules are. It's easy to interrupt wireless communications. You can make an empty 1,000 gallon fuel tank broadcast if you have enough power and the right equipment.

It's funny how the problems were just intermittent enough to keep them from communicating properly, but not quite bad enough to shut the system down.

Exactly, even if they both had problems if the patriots knew there would be a problem in advance that is a significant advantage allowing the pats to prep the battlefield in advance so to speak.

These type of tactics are pulled right from The Art of War. It's impressive really.

Also the NFL having control of the equipment during the game doesn't prevent much really. You can very easily affect the comms externally through outside hardware or even by damaging the shielding that protects a cable from interference.

Not saying any of this happens... but its far from inconceivable.

Nice try, but...

I've never seen more excuses or lack of accountability than I've seen from Pats fan. Whether they were directly responsible for this issue or not, these fans act like they know all the facts AND THEY DON'T. It's always some bullcrap reason as to why they are innocent, followed up by the typical "You're just a hater because we stomped your ass in the SB."

Ugh, GO BILLS!!

I think about the Edelman PI call and how he deliberately left his arm in to get the call and it should have been offensive PI. Some might call it a heads up play but to me it shows the endemic culture of cheating that surrounds this repugnant football club. The stench of win at all costs pollutes the very air of Foxborough.

Thank you for the Article,

I read the Motorola article which was from 2007 (obviously much more outdated article) and even then they said there 4 different ways that tampering can happen with that system. I know NE has been accused at least 10 times of tampering with headsets. I just don't know. I feel like if they got caught the penalty could easily be the most severe one ever handed down in sports which seems risky atm.

Information on radio issue for Steelers coaches. There was a "grounding issue" and Pats radio broadcast was "bleeding in" to headsets (1)

But only when the Steelers were on offense, it'd magically fix itself when the Pat's had the ball.

Gotta hand it to the Patriots, they're consistent with their cheating.

For anyone that didn't click through to the Deadspin article, here is the important part:

From the NFL Gameday Policy Manual: "Home clubs are responsible for the installation and maintenance of the coaching staff communications infrastructure."

Once again, the NFL is lying on behalf of that organization.

Wow, we aren't even hearing original excuses anymore!

Deflated Footballs: "We didn't cheat, the NFL handles the footballs. It was the weather.

Tampered radio: "We didn't cheat, the NFL handles the radio equipment. It was the weather.

Yeah ok. :177692:

and they will continue to get away with it...wouldn't be surprised to see another stupid looking sb winner patch on their jersey this year..I mean they have the advantage over every team!

This bears repeating. Read the Deadspin article if you have a few minutes. Compare and contrast what the NFL says, what the Pats say, what Tomlin says, and what Deadspin calls bull%hit on.

Caught cheating? The Pasties? No way!
They cheat so much, it just seems like thats the its supposed to be done.
So we just changed the rules to benefit the Pasties, then it won't be like they did anything wrong, right?

The Patriot solution:

Bounty gate for all teams playing them. Start taking out their players.

Pull the same crap they do when they visit stadiums. Tamper with equipment, steal play sheets. This has to stop.. :thfight7:
