Miami's Cam McCormick returning in 2024: How 'Canes TE became eligible for ninth season of college football
McCormick has taken one-of-a-kind path since he enrolled at Oregon back in January 2016

Though his traditional eligibility was exhausted after the 2022 season, the NCAA granted McCormick two medical hardship seasons. He transferred to Miami and reunited with ex-Oregon coach Mario Cristobal shortly after receiving the news.

In his first year with the Hurricanes, McCormick appeared in all 13 games, catching eight passes for a total of 62 yards. He earned the 2022 Capital One Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award for his perseverance through injuries. Through it all, the possibility of a ninth season was in the back of his mind.

Will he be collecting social security when his eligibility is finally used up?

My favorite is the dudes from BYU and Utah. Announcer's like "Beckett Smith's in at right guard, he's back from his mission, 37 and expecting his first grandkid."

Guy gets to live in Miami, probably makes a decent NIL, and play football. The NFL is clearly not in his future, and living in Miami is far better than Canada

That's awesome. More power to him. And now with the NIL, he's making a living. And IF he's been going to classes all these years, he's getting a hell of an education.
