Remember when everybody freaked out about us trading a backup catcher to get that guy?

I think Mike Morse is going to be fun to watch this year! If he keeps this up, I have no problem with him sharing the nickname of "Beast mode."

How "beast mode" could a baseball player be? Maybe we can call him baby beast mode. But hitting 4 times a game and standing around the outfield doesn't constitute sharing a nickname with a guy who runs into, through and over 250-300 lb men 25-30 times a game.

Maybe the A's will move to Sacramento. They have only had like 15k attendance on their 2nd and 3rd games.
Oaklands attendance on a weeknight isn't any worse than the mariners... And the athletics have been one of the few franchises over the last decade that have been as futile as the mariners. It'll pick up if the wins keep coming.

It would not be out of the question to suggest "here we go again".... the hitting has been sparse after.a torrid spring and the back end of the rotation struggled. But let's remember... baseball is 162 games and there will be many stretches we go 2-2 on the road and are happy with it. And the As are a good club

Still.... aside from Morse the plate appearances have been less than encouraging. Hopefully a change in location will inspire

.500 ball against the A's is A-OK. Now let's get the White Sox monkey off of our backs.

Man, gotta love that run support for Beavan who is pitching a great game so far.

Gotta admit, last night's game was a nail biter. I tuned in during the 5th inning just as Beavan was starting to shit the bed. Watched all the way through the 10th and came away with the following impressions.

- Hitting is better this year, and could even be a strength of this team.
- Our starting pitching staff is not that great. Hultzen's and Walker's development cannot go fast enough.
- We try to get cute with using specialist pitchers for certain situations and it results in base hits and runs scored when we put a cold relief pitcher on the mound.
- Brendan Ryan is a pretty damn good shortstop
- Michael Saunders is a pretty damn good center fielder
- We are probably going to lose close games with Tom Wilhelmsen as our closer.

So how excited should we be about Zunino? This guy looks like a superstar in the making.

Haven't they already won their 3 games for April?

I see Felix got beat last night. They've been so miserable so long I find it very hard to get excited about them anymore.

Every year there is always a gaping hole in the squad. In previous years, our bats couldn't hit a damn thing, but pitching was aces with at least two premier starters, capable relievers, and an ace closer with a red hot fastball. Fielding was also top notch, and had to be because nobody could bat in runs to save their lives.

This year it is the exact opposite. The bats are really whacking the ball around but pitching is a real weakness, especially with such awful, awful relievers. The entire bullpen sucks, top to bottom, except for Carter Capps.

Well, that's what happens when the front office trades away our good players rather than spends more money... we traded away our 2nd or 3rd best starter for some increased offense and I have a feeling it's definitely going to have an effect on our ERA this year. The pitcher we picked up to replace Vargas (Saunders) sure didn't impress in his first start, but we'll see how he does tomorrow.

To be fair, the club has amazing pitching talent like 4 months away from the big league squad. Atleast three maybe four very good pitchers. They traded from a position of strength to add offense, something every Ms fan has been begging for since the ill adviosed Bedard trade.

That's true... I just hope they don't trade them all away for more garbage.

Nah, these kids are really good. Looking at filling in the bullpen with pryor, capps and wilhemson for the year and id say atleast two are rotation guys next year.

On Zunino.. yes he may be excellent. But Smoak and Montero were supposed to be as well. Man I hope those twp (and ackely) start hitting
