Yall are so wrong in this . We got one guy who even states we scored 30 last year and proceeds to ask, what changed . Get off bevell you football lightweights . We lost the best run blocking guard in football and pro bowl left tackle with a minor injury risk . Our line has dictated the play of the entire offense . We are grossly overmatched on the edge and glowinsky is a weakness too. This season has turned out to be a schnieder science experiment that will go down as a dumbass mistake. Sure we may make the playoffs , but theres the vikings which are built to beat us.

At the start of the year, there was a lot of buzz about how the offense was going to overtake the defense as the strongest part of the team.

Can we officially put that weird rumor to bed now? This team wins because of the defense.

We have come back with the offense and scored some, sometimes to take leads but without the incredible job by the defense when the offense continually does nothing for a half (or in this case an entire game), this team would have accomplished nowhere near as much.

But in all fairness after week 1 you created a post stating that the DEFENSE was not the same and is a shell of themselves. So what is it? Both?

I think opponents no longer have to scheme or worry about Russell doing damage with his legs - so they come after him aggressively without much risk of his Houdini-magic burning them. Despite C-Mike's occasional 12 yard rush (which could be 20+ if he wasn't always diving forward to the ground once a defender breathed on him), our rushing game isn't a threat. We miss Rawls greatly.

Since our O-line is average at best, these issues are amplified against superior D-lines.

The Hawks opened the game with three straight passes. When's the last time that happened? They attempted 19 rushes in 5 quarters last night - in a close game! The rushing game is pretty much non-existent.

I've reset my expectations to hopefully winning the division, and getting a playoff game at home. If Rawls is full strength and Russel gets some mobility back by playoff time, the Hawks are serious SB contenders again. As of right now - It's survival mode on offense against elite teams.

The Saints defense is not good. We'll roll up at least 12 on them... :D

Go Hawks!
