KC had no running game. Pete is going to run the hell outta the ball and wear down that Dline.

Let the Cris Collinsworth slobbering over Patrick Mahomes begin.

I would have thought so too, but I watched most of the first half, and it sounded to me like Collinsworth was rooting for the Lions.

I dislike Collinsworth. I put him on the lowest level, down there with Troy Aikman and Joe (dum)B(f)uck.

I haven't gone through all the comments, so I apologize if the answers are somewhere in this thread, but I have two questions about last night's game:

The first one is how in the hell can the Chiefs right tackle get away with two very obvious violations that even the announcers picked up on and Terry McCaulley confirmed that he wasn't lining up on the LOS in passing situations? In addition, he was clearly jumping early on nearly every passing play, finally getting called for it late in the game. That line judge needs to be reprimanded. Embarrassing officiating performance.

The second one is WTF was Andy Reid doing by going for it on 4th and 25 from his own 30 north of the 2-minute warning and with all 3 of his timeouts? Is that what analytics told him to do?

Man, the Lions are a completely different team than the one we beat 45-42 last season, especially their defense. Adian Hutchinson is the next Nick Bosa. How I wish we had a DL like him! He was in Mahomes face all night long.

And you gotta love Dan Campbell. Did anyone catch his halftime interview? The guy reminds me a lot of Pete Carroll except he's more physically imposing and 20 some years younger. He ran shivers up my spine listening to him. He's like a little kid on a sugar high, as excited as a one-armed ping pong player with crabs.

Reid going for it on 4th and 25 had more to do with him having more confidence in Mahomes than in his defense stopping the Lions which they didn’t

I'm not buying that. The Lions punted 5 times and their offense scored just twice. There was no reason for Reid to believe that his defense couldn't stop the Lions. What are the odds of converting on 4th and 25?

I was only watching the game here and there, but Tirico was actually annoying me more last night than Collinsworth. I was so irked when he said, "this Sunday, we have Dallas and the Giants. That just sounds and feels like Sunday night football!"

Same! That was so annoying.

Then it switched to my local Dallas news station after and: More about Cowboys.

Ick.

I don't understand all the Collinsworth hate, I actually enjoy listening to him on Sunday nights

I think it's all the, "Wow! Did you see that?! This is the best player to ever do it ... until the next game that I'm calling" slobbering that gets under people's skin.
That's their job, to fill the telecast with as much hype as possible, and it's been done by every play-by-play and color man since I can remember, and I've been watching football for over 60 years. Howard Cosell used to make a game between two 3-10 teams sound like it was a prelude to the Super Bowl. John Madden, in his early years, was so hyper that he could out-do Tirico and Collingsworth in his sleep.

I don't let it bother me. Their calling of the game is secondary, almost like background music. I can figure out what's going on without them telling me and their comments only reinforce what I've already observed. The only time an announcer really annoyed me was when Dennis Miller was teamed up with Al Michaels. Otherwise, the quality of the announcers isn't a big deal with me.

Every time I've watched a game with him as commentaror, Collinsworth compliments every player on every good play they make. It was no different last night. Did he wind up making a lot of comments on Mahomes? Sure, because Mahomes made some good plays.

I loved his comment on the Chiefs RT lined up illegally. Said he looks like he's lined up as a slot receiver. Lol

Then you must remeber Curt Gowdy and Keith Jackson. Those guys were great and never seemed to be annoying.

"We are built for winning when the opposing team doesn't have their best receiver and drops multiple easy catches, including one that would have put them in field-goal range to win it at the end of the game!"

Yep. I remember both those guys.

Gowdy was over exposed. For years, he was NBC's lead play-by-play announcer for AFL football, MLB baseball which included the World Series, the NCAA basketball tourney, and on a series called American Sportsman. I got really tired of his voice.

Keith Jackson was great. His classic lines were "Whoa, Nellie!" and "Fumbleeeeee"

Say all you want. At the end of the day, the Lions got the job done and the Chiefs didn't.

Give the Lions credit. They went on a big stage in Arrowhead and knocked off the defending champs. In years past, they would have gotten humiliated.

The Chief's receiving corps is hot garbage. Outside of Valdez- Scantling - who even are all those other guys? They have 7 WR on their active roster - pretty clear they know they have issues. Mahomes is a miracle worker - but even he can't cover up this mess. Having Kelce back will certainly help enormously - but damn the rest of them are awful.
