I told a dejected 9er fan friend of mine the championship game WAS the superbowl. If SF had beaten us and went up against Denver, it may have even been a bigger slaughter than even we laid on the Donks.
Yep. Denver couldn't hang with a hard-hitting team. The Niners were damn good that year.

Are we talking about things we actually witnessed in person?

If so, I was there for Mike Holmgren's last game as a Seahawk. Yes, the snow game. 2008.

I also witnessed Shaun Alexander's career-longest touchdown run, the 88-yarder in Arizona.

Any other answer that's not "the Super Bowl win" is inappropriate.

OH man. I was at that game in Arizona when he got that long run. They played at ASU stadium. Coming back to our seats and people were talking junk. He runs it all the back, does the baseball swing as his TD celebration. So funny.
Another thing I remember vividly about that game was the Arizona "fans" booing Kurt Warner, big time. Shoot, as always, we took over their stadium that day.

That's not how I originally framed the question, it kind of turned into that. No, my question was in general what was the biggest moment in Seattle sports to you. Didn't have to necessarily be there, but that would be cool too.

I think two plays that were absolutely unforgettable were the snap in the Super Bowl over Peyton manning and Percy harvin taking it to the house
If there was even the faintest glimmer of hope for the Broncos at the half (I thought not), Harvin's return slammed that door shut. Real nice exclamation point for me in a game I was never really worried about.

As others have mentioned, SB48 tops the list for me too.
My family moved to Seattle in 1977. So the Supersonics being the city's first professional champion is something that will always be there. Huskies national championship in football is another one.

The Super Bowl was merely a coronation for the Hawks to me, much like the 85' Bears beating New England in that SB. I didn't see anyone beating us if we got by the 49ers, especially with two weeks off after that brutally hard hitting game.

I'm not a big fan of the Super Bowl itself, much preferring the conference title games over it. It's intended to be a neutral site, it lacks that home field energy, it's attended by all sorts who really aren't loyal fans of either team, it's expensive as hell, and pretty much everything that annoys me about the over-the-top American commercial hype machine.

I loved watching and seeing our Hawks win it that day, but beating the 49ers at home in the NFC championship is the game that stuck out for me. I was nervous all week before it, nervous the whole game through, holding my breath right down to the last play, and bursting with elation when we won it.

No one was going to beat us after that.

The Harvin one is underrated. I just remember Aikman saying Denver can get back in this with a stop and Harvin immediately houses it lol. One of my favorite memories for sure.

The Harvin return was just the exclamation point for me. We were up 22-0 at the half with one of the great defenses in NFL history that was smelling blood. I thought this game was one of the best money bets I've seen in a game of this kind. People were paying way too much attention to Denver's offense, and not nearly enough on our legendary defense and much underrated offense.

Hell yes, that team was dominant. They would have DESTROYED Miami. Shoot, my co-worker, who's a huge Miami fan flat out admitted he was glad they didn't play each other.

As a bonus, the nickname: Desmond "can't score a touchdown in the Rose Bowl" Howard was created.

Two Sonics seasons where they lost the series for world champs and then when they won, I was able to go to all the home games. They were like 25 dollars a ticket so people could afford them, Colisium was like a megaphone, the columns actually were vibrating from the noise, 2nd 48, third the first trip when we were in Detroit, we won but lost on the scoreboard.

Awesome. I probably did about 15 home playoff games over the years. The electricity was amazing. Esp. during the Kemp/Payton era.

In person: The Tip, Beastquake, 2005 NFC Championship.

MNF game in Lambeau Field in 1999. Holmgren's first time back to Green Bay. We kicked their ass. Fun Halloween weekend.

Sadly I saw Super Bowl XL* in person (major retching noise here) and didn't attend Super Bowl 48.
