I dub thee national pride day for the Seattle Seahawks. They can bask in there pride in yesterday performance with the Titan's. Ok, penalties aside, we sucked petty much the whole second half.

We should of ran the ball more (the Titan did this and they gased our defense) Check T.O.P.

We have five RBs on our roster WHY don't we use them?

PS no Will Dissly This too was a crime.

ARREST Shane, Russ Ken and Pete !!!!!!!!!!!! :17:

Collins had a huge gain for 25 yards, and only saw one carry. :?

Last five years after losses = we gotta let Russ cook!

This year after new shiny coordinator and we lose = we gotta run more!

What I saw yesterday was Vrabel and his coaches did a fantastic job at halftime of adjusting by dialing up the edge pressure on Russell and taking Lockett away by bracketing him.

So what did Pete, Russell and Waldron do to counter act that? Err, I have no idea. Carson wasn't a factor the entire game, so saying we should have ran more doesn't work for me. The Tennessee D-line shut him down the entire game.

The answer SHOULD have been to attack the middle of the field like we did last week with more checkdowns, screens, quick outs and slants, and TE seam routes.

Eskridge would have been a big help yesterday, but putting your faith in a rookie WR is not a valid excuse.

They definitely had Carson's number in the first half, and may have had it in the second half, but I didn't feel like we had enough attempts to find out either way.

If they were bracketing Lockett in the second half then either DK is manned up or they were playing 2 high which we should at least try to run against more than not at all in the 2nd half with a big lead at home.

To be clear, I'd have been fine with attacking the middle of the field and using screens, etc. as well and am mystified as to why we did not.

I agree part of what your saying... But I do think they need to commit to the run especially when they have a big lead... I never was a proponent of "let Russ cook" so I believe they need a balanced attack or even run heavy...It doesn't matter if Carson is effective all the time running the ball keeps the D honest and eats the clock, sets up the pass... they should have been running the ball in the second half of that game with a big lead... they would have won the game... Carson had 4 rushes for 10 yards in the second half, that's not enough. but an even bigger problem was TOP, penalty's and 3rd down conversions in the 2nd half at 50%. your right Titans adjusted very well at half and the Hawks laid an egg..

Next time we lose it will be because we ran the ball to much. Enough about Alex Collins too. He's a dud, there's a reason he's 3 string, there's a reason he's bounced around the league his whole career. Why don't we sign Freddie Swain to a 100 million dollar contract because he had a great game while were at it.

I agree, but it's hard to lay blame at anyone's feet when we honestly don't know how many times Russ changed the play at the line in the 2nd half when he saw Tennessee's D loading the box to stop the run.

Didn't help that we had so many 2nd and 3rd and long due to penalties and negative play 1st downs.

We can parse the game all week, but honestly I was disappointed in the playcalling most of the game, and that includes the 24 points in the first half. Because it LOOKED like the old Schotty/Bevell playcalls.....and nothing looked like Waldron's schemes or playcalls.

No layers, no misdirection, no same look formations trying to confuse the defense.

I hear what your saying and I agree with you... your right the play calling wasn't the best and its hard to lay blame (although I think you might be on to something about Wilson changing the play at the line) I just think and Im pretty sure we will agree that its Waldron's second game they are just getting their feet wet, very few are going to see it and so we are probably in for some complaining reading until they hit their stride...

Couldn't run the ball and that really hurt the Offense in the second half. Pete refused to make any adjustments though trying Collins or Dallas but that's par for the course with Pete at this point . He let Collins have one carry it was the best run all day and then he never touched the ball again .

I don't want a pass heavy or a run heavy game plan, why does it always have to be one or the other? I just want a BALANCED game plan. Why does it have to be deep passes or sacks? Can we have a mix or short/intermediate/deep throws? Is it too much to ask? Maybe it's too much to ask for four quarters...

I heard Wyman and Carroll today on 710espn. What I heard is, we have tor run the ball on 1st down. The Seahawks run the ball on 1st down. Hearing this I have to assume that opposing coaches are not dumb and they know this too. So I have to ask, if they put 11 men in the box would we still "run the ball"? How bout 10 or 9 or 8. When do we decide, maybe if everyone knows we're going "run the ball", we should not run the ball?
Or if we're going to run the ball maybe we do it from a spread formation, something different, rather than trying to pound the ball off guard. If we had true road grading guards and center that might be possible, but it's obvious we do not.

A good balance of run pass is fine, but run enough so when you use the play action it works. Week one at Indy was fine.

When you have a lead, like last Sunday you run the ball to keep the clock moving. If its three and out, I dont care as long as the dam clock is ticking away. The fisrt two drives of the second half should of been running plays. Why not we would of been taking time off the clock.

Then the third drive, run it twice and then go play action with a short (high percentage pass play) this is wear you try to get a first down. If the first down was successful, then hit'em with another play action on first down. Pass over the middle to a TE.

Surprise and wonder of keeping them off balance.

And no friggen penalties ! ! !

Cheers

Couldn't agree more, run the damn ball and eat up that clock. Especially with a 2 touchdown lead. Instead, they throw incomplete passes while Russ is running for his life. Stopping the clock for the opponent.
What did the Titans do? They KEPT pounding the rock, knowing damn well that it would pay off in the second half.
What does Pete and company do? They just don't even try to establish the run. Outcoached, again.
Plenty of talent on this team to be VERY good. But getting outcoached, so many times, is a flat out issue with this team. I believe in them, but I'm also not going to bury my head in the sand and act like it's all good. It isn't all good, not just because of one loss. Pete getting outcoached has happened way too often imo. They flat out CAN be a contender. If they actually adjust on the fly, like the opponents seem to do.
Sky is not falling at all. But, what we saw in the 2nd half on Sunday is just not good enough. Period.

Well after last year one thing is for sure they are not used to playing with a lead. their game is the comeback in the 4th. out coached? ok... they lost the game but I think its deeper than that. their is a lack of discipline on this team and I think the 100 yard penalties is a sign of that. could be partly a new O and unfamiliarity with it.. could be they were trying to hard to amped up.. but not to many times can a team win with that many penalties...

It seemed to me that Pete was allowing his new OC to work it out in game. How else would he know what he has in Waldron? As much as anyone wants to say, this is how I will handle this situation, you do not know until you are in it. Waldron failed by placing the ball solely in Wilson's hands. Now during the meetings, Pete will absolutely coach the situation differently.

VERY good point on the discipline on this team. It is lacking right now imo. I doubt I'm the only one who gets annoyed when a guy gets beat like Reed and he gets up and celebrates. I don't like the taunting rule, but at the same time, when you've given up over 500 yards on defense??? Make the play, celebrate with teammates and get over yourself. I don't want emotion taken out of the game. I want the stupid penalties, that can flat out be avoided, to stop. It cost that team big time on Sunday. Extended drives and time of possession for a team that was flat out dominating that game. And when you have your linebacker throwing a guy down way out of bounds? There's no excuse for that crap. I don't care if you're a young player or not.

I think Russ wants to win a MVP and its keeps getting in the way of the team success. If he wanted the team to be successful he'd stop trying to be a superman of a quartback with his passing thing.

We don't have Marshawn Lynch anymore, I wish we did, a stout RB is a quartbacks best friend. Running the ball takes SO much pressure off a quartback, if a game is managed properly.

We don't have that or nobody believes in Carson and crew to get it done, which is disaster with in itself. They had better re-think things fast, before another season slips away from them.

A 55% to 45% pass to run ratio would be our sweet spot.

Cheers
