Last five years after losses = we gotta let Russ cook!
This year after new shiny coordinator and we lose = we gotta run more!
What I saw yesterday was Vrabel and his coaches did a fantastic job at halftime of adjusting by dialing up the edge pressure on Russell and taking Lockett away by bracketing him.
So what did Pete, Russell and Waldron do to counter act that? Err, I have no idea. Carson wasn't a factor the entire game, so saying we should have ran more doesn't work for me. The Tennessee D-line shut him down the entire game.
The answer SHOULD have been to attack the middle of the field like we did last week with more checkdowns, screens, quick outs and slants, and TE seam routes.
Eskridge would have been a big help yesterday, but putting your faith in a rookie WR is not a valid excuse.
I agree part of what your saying... But I do think they need to commit to the run especially when they have a big lead... I never was a proponent of "let Russ cook" so I believe they need a balanced attack or even run heavy...It doesn't matter if Carson is effective all the time running the ball keeps the D honest and eats the clock, sets up the pass... they should have been running the ball in the second half of that game with a big lead... they would have won the game... Carson had 4 rushes for 10 yards in the second half, that's not enough. but an even bigger problem was TOP, penalty's and 3rd down conversions in the 2nd half at 50%. your right Titans adjusted very well at half and the Hawks laid an egg..

I agree, but it's hard to lay blame at anyone's feet when we honestly don't know how many times Russ changed the play at the line in the 2nd half when he saw Tennessee's D loading the box to stop the run.
Didn't help that we had so many 2nd and 3rd and long due to penalties and negative play 1st downs.
We can parse the game all week, but honestly I was disappointed in the playcalling most of the game, and that includes the 24 points in the first half. Because it LOOKED like the old Schotty/Bevell playcalls.....and nothing looked like Waldron's schemes or playcalls.
No layers, no misdirection, no same look formations trying to confuse the defense.
