the 49ers are so good that not that long ago we won the division with a losing record and they weren't even part of the conversation.

I've had to endure the same. I've lived in Hawaii now for 30 years. It is SF west here. To make matters worse, there are several ex NFL players in our community that (used to) shake their heads when they see me sporting my Hawk apparel. But the reality is, we don't get respect because we've not earned it (in the past....05 excluded).

But there is hope for us all. There is a different feeling these days. I am suddenly applauded as the guy that "never jumped ship". Unlike many in here, over here, I am no longer hearing a lot of smack. In fact, I am delivering the smack talk with very little resistance. THESE Niner fans are nervous and I won't be shocked when it is they, that jump ship. In fact, I see the writing on the wall already. They think they're clever with the "Man, ya' gotta' love what your Hawks are doin'....they're my second favorite team!".

Yeah...we've upped our standards, now, UP YOUR'S! ;)

I understand where you are coming from, Todd. No less than five of my good friends are Whiners fans. They mostly are pretty good about it, and genuinely fear the uprising Seahawks which feeds the fun.

Interestingly enough, not ONE of them is from the Bay Area. I remind them of that frequently...typical bandwagoners! Even more typical, all jumped onboard during the Whiners golden era (ancient history now)...further cementing the notion of bandwagoning. I know more about the Whiners roster than all of them.

I have to put up with Niner nonsense and Seahawks hate from my grandkids. I have blocked all their feeds on FB because of it. My husband is a Niner fan but he is from San Jose and was around during their glory years. He says he was like "those fans" when he was younger but he grew up. He roots for the 'Hawks when they aren't playing each other so I don't say anything outloud about my intense Niner hate anymore but I still think it to myself.

It's an old song. Never mind. :49ersmall:

I was just wondering Aros, how did he take that ass kicking we gave the 9er's last December?

I was about to ask what he says when you knock on his door at 3am yelling "42-13."

It's no use. Short of winning the Super Bowl, there's no smack I can offer without his spin on it.

For instance, when that game is mentioned, he merely shrugs and says "...the 49ers were tired from the big win in New England the week before. Classic let-down game."

See what I mean?

I love the shrimp idea for the record.

I don't know if one would say that you guys actually won the division that year, more than that you were chosen to represent the division by default.

I remember thinking that nobody in the division was good enough to make a run at the Superbowl that year, and was happy to not be recognized as the first ever team to "win" the division with a losing record.

Despite that, I thought it was pretty amusing to watch you guys upset the Saints in Seattle in the wildcard round though. Kudos for that!

Only good thing to come out of Lodi was John Forgerty.

:les:

After how fogerty treated his brother on his death bed, as far as i know, zhawk is still the best thing to come out of Lodi.

Could be worse, Z... Manteca!

I'm originally from central CA myself, and couldn't stand the 9ers even when I was young. The media hype was too much during the Montana years. Being in Seahawk country now is sometimes like drinking fresh water from a cool stream on a hot day!

Of course we won it. I was there. I saw it. You were just probably not paying attention. Typical.

Better to win the division with a losing record than be the loser team that couldn't even pull a 7-9 season out of their ass and missed the playoffs altogether. :49ersmall:
