This is a nothing burger(hate that phrases) to me. His agent is just doing what agents do. They will figure it out as it benefits both of them. It’s a defense that will use jones as a center piece. Not worried at all about Jones.

Lot of people are calling JS a moron and he needs to go. He did fire PC after all, didn't he?
JS Fired his Boss PC??? Wow. The owner fired PC. And all the JS apologists have assigned every crap move for the last decade to PC to cover his sorry history especially where building the lines is concerned.

crap trades Like Adams? Must be PC
crap drafts? must be PC
one year rentals for decent draft capital? Must be PC
:rollseyes

either JS was part of the stupid decisions or he has sat on his lazy ass for a decade and did nothing to protect the team when PC was making them.

that history of one year rentals for draft picks not being re signed is what many are worried about here.

Likely low threat but, if you’re wanting Jones to return as I’m sure most of us do, it’s not necessarily the ‘best news’ we could hear.

He didn't fire Pete, Jody did. Carroll had authority over JS, in fact Carroll even hired JS, which is very rare/odd for an HC to do. Carroll had complete control over football operations and had the power to override JS at any time.

It is easy to look at things like this myopically at times but there are a myriad of variables to consider. Some we know and others we don’t. JS has to look at not only one player but the bigger picture and balance the salary cap for not only 2025 but for years to come. What happens with Tyler Lockett for instance plays a factor and the longer term plan at QB for instance. He has until March. Theres no issue taking a mutual break. The agent knows where things stand. The team knows MUCH more than we do about the players, the team goals, and the next phase of this team’s development. Can’t it be that there are dozens of other variables that may impact the cap and both parties just agreed to take a break from active discussions to allow time for JS to settle a few other things and that’s it? Calling for the firing of JS seems a bit much. I think it’s nothing. If it is something and Jones is a diva behind the scenes and demanding way over the value on the market and that’s what led to both the Rams and Titans trading him then maybe there’s a reason we are being careful with it? Who knows. But I believe they are eager to really take another step forward and I for one am fine not rushing into anything until we at least play our final game and have a few other pieces start to shake out.

This. Was Pete Carroll responsible for our GARBAGE outside free agency pickups last offseason?

Hes seems to be a perfect fit for a Macdonald scheme. Hate to see him go. Have faith he and JS has a gameplay for this off season.

You know what we don't know?
-what happened behind close doors,
-what initiated the trades and signings,

what we do know!
-Pete had the final said, so he takes the ultimate responsibilities. If JS consistently feed him with bad suggestions, he could either reject them or fire JS.
-It's Pete's team building philosophy.

In real life, it may be more complicated, especially post 2020. Jody even sat in on meetings and draft day war room. we have no idea what went down.

He will go where the money is. It's not like Seattle is a destination for players to go any longer. If they want him will have to be the highest bidder.

This is the Jamal Adams nightmare all over again. You don’t trade for a player and give up decent draft capital to have to re-sign him in the off-season. The reason why you did not do this is because then the player and his agent have all the leverage, knowing that you will look foolish if you do not re-sign him for giving up the picks. I mentioned this immediately after acquiring Jamal Adams and it’s déjà vu yet again.

Jones played pretty good for us, our defense enjoyed instant improvement after playing him. That said, he is not the second coming of Bobby Wagner, he is also not an athletic marvel either. I am not sure if his contribution to our defense is as good? or better? than Cody Barton's contribution to Broncos' defense? or Brooks's contribution to Dolphins'. I don't know, do you?

In short, Jones is not irreplaceable like a young Bobby, and Macdonald knows what he wants and needs in a MLB. Does Macdonald see Jones as a must-have, or a building block? We don't know that, do we?

It’s more than a chance. He isn't very good at his job. The team's track record of not sniffing a SB over the past decade proves it.

Every franchise that is approaching ten years since their last SB appearance has a terrible GM?

That’s alotta GM’s😂

I mean you’re entitled to your beliefs but I’m not sure if that’s the best parameter.

I didn't say a SB appearance. I said not getting remotely close to a SB appearance. You want better parameters? OK, exhibit A: the o line that this genius assembled for us this season. Widely regarded as one of the worst in the league.

There is a reason that two teams traded for him in such a short period of time and that reason is not because of his play, it was because they felt they could not resign him

Not to read too much into it, but it's interesting that Scot McCloughan's team building with with the Seahawks correspond with our Superbowl appearances. His departure also brought lesser drafts, FA's and playoff showings.
