Fellaini is world class now?

Hazard is special. Courtois maybe the best keeper in Europe. Lukaku is a difficult player to handle. Kompany and Vertongen experienced and intelligent defenders. Belgium is an attacking team.

They are not one of the top 6 teams in this tournament. Not when it started. Not now.

They will be a difficult task. But as far as teams to draw this was a decent one. They're slow in their build up and are susceptible to counters, which the US employ as a tactic quite well.

Belgium's better, but not drastically.

Klinsmann isn't going anywhere. Just got an extension with US Soccer before world cup started. Signed through 2018 I believe.

USMNT news:

Jermaine Jones broke his nose. He'll still play.

Jozy ran on the side during training for a 3rd strait day. He could be available for Belgium.

However Vincent Kompany may not be available for Belgium.

Belgium is a tough team and will be a tough match for the USA but not tougher than France, Brazil, Argentina, or The Netherlands would be. So in that sense, it's good to be playing Belgium.

Exactly plus I like that we get an extra day of rest. We looked tired against Germany.

I can't emphasize how great it is we ended up on the right side of the bracket...that left side looks BRUTAL.

Jurgen just seems too committed to succeeding with US Soccer to take on a second project. Just from what I've seen.

Not saying he would just saying it happens. Usually in the nation you're leading though

Good news is that Germany is easily the best team we'll face for a couple of rounds.
Really? You guys will face Belgium... They probably have the most talented players in Europe.

The last time the U.S. faced Belgium, they throttled the American team 4-2. Lukaku tore right through our defense. So the potential for Belgium to be great is there.

How long has it been since Belgium have played to that level, though? After their qualifier win in Zagreb against Croatia, they went 0-2-1, all in Brussels, against Wales, Colombia, and Japan. Then drew with Ivory Coast in Brussels. They had a nice two goal win at Sweden. Since then, have they really looked close to elite? They were incredibly boring in their final warmup win vs. Tunisia. Give them credit for winning all three group games, but they did so against one of the easiest groups of the tournament.

They could beat us, but I don't think it will be anything like their 4-2 win in Cleveland.

Probably the best way to describe Belgium is that they have tons of talent but very little chemistry and cohesion.

I feel like Lukaku is overrated. And yes, I see Felliani like a world class player, but that's my opinion.

Fair enough....I don't see him as a starting cm in at least 9 teams in the PL...even the one he's on. If it was about elbows and cheap shots you've got something. Bradleys better in my opinion

Lukaku is a good young player. Not sure about overrated. I don't think he's that "rated".. Loanee player whose club had already found his replacement.

Well I don't judge him for cheap shots, nor I judge any other players. Well, I started following soccer back in the 90's, and it was a time that cheap shots were legion

Concerning Lukaku, in Begium, many people have seen him as a raising star. In France, we tend to say that he is a "tout droit" which means that he is got no talent (and I can tell that we have a plethora of this kinda player).

I'm not judging Fallaini on his cheap shots. I find him slow and farctoo clumsy in his overall play.

Interesting on Lukaku. He was one of the Prems rising stars last year. Bendtner was once though too and he's certainly tout droit

That Chilean goal was off an awful turnover (giveaway? Am I using the right wording?) in Brazil's own end. After that, though, they started pressuring Brazil's defense with a bit more regularity.

This game has rocked so far. I think it's locked in my desire to definitely keep following the Sounders closely and to try and start following the English Premier League when it starts back up.

As long as you don't start rooting for Manchester United, it's all good. :)
