That Chilean goal was off an awful turnover (giveaway? Am I using the right wording?) in Brazil's own end. After that, though, they started pressuring Brazil's defense with a bit more regularity.

This game has rocked so far. I think it's locked in my desire to definitely keep following the Sounders closely and to try and start following the English Premier League when it starts back up.
As long as you don't start rooting for Manchester United, it's all good. :)

I'll just watch and pick a team that I like, but I won't pick a team that is already good. I'm a Seattle sports fan, and thus I find that it is more rewarding when you root for a team that has to go through fire to finally win a championship. :D

Run the soccer Guantlet with me today. Brazil-Chile on now, Uruguay-Colombia at noon, and Sounders-DCUnited at 4.

We got soccer running all day long!

That was a handball.

Once again Howard Webb is the best Englishman at the world cup.

Definitely catching the Sounders game here or at a bar.

Was that a handball? This is a dumb novice question because I thought it had to hit your lower forearm or hand to be a handball. If it hits your upper arm and you move your arm forward, would that be a handball? If so, I think it was.

Is the yellow because the official thought it wasn't accidental? Sorry for the novice questions.

Handball is anything below the shoulder. Whole arm can't be used.

Yellow was given because Howard Webb (the ref) felt Hulk intentionally brought the ball down in the box with his hand (arm).

Cant do that. Too much arm, not enough chest.

Honestly if his elbow wasn't bent he MIGHT have gotten away with it.

When I started followng the EPL a few years ago I found myself rooting for Manchester City because of a player they had, Carlos Tevez. I just enjoyed watching him play. Then he left the club in a dispute and I found myself drawn to a scrappy club that had just won promotion to the EPL in Queens Park Rangers. QPR also had a talented but controversial player in Adel Taarabt. When QPR were relegated I returned to Man City but it wasn't the same. Now that QPR are back in the EPL they're my #1 team.

Same deal there. Started watching Man United because of Rooney...then Ronaldo, Tevez, Scholes, Giggs, Evra, Vidic...just enjoyed watching them play. As players retire and leave I still root for United, but dont find myself quite as into them as I once was. Peaches will say I'm a fair weather fan or whatever, Just not watching every game like I use to. Speaking of Peaches...due to he, and Si, and Suarez always talking about Liverpool I find myself watching their damn games...and enjoying it...it makes me sick.

You guys are bastards.

One question I've always had is why is the UK allowed to have four separate national teams?

FIFA's recognized nations are different from say the Olympics (Team Great Britain). I read the official reasoning a little while ago, but don't remember. Let me see if I can find it.

Also, who cares? It makes them worse, The English could use some of those Welsh players (Bale, Ramsey).

Edit: Found this. Sheds a little light. Hard to research while watching this game. Lol. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_ ... teams.html

Love it. Brazil has its moments but I think Chile has the momentum. I just hope it doesn't go to PK's. I never cared for that.

OH THE DRAMA! We're going 120 minutes with this one boys!

For all you unfamiliar with World Cup overtimes. Two 15 minute halves. No golden goal (meaning game doesn't end with a goal)

Jo's challenge on the Keeper, Red card for you Si? Looked close to one to me...

Yellow understandable...but looked reckless.

No sir. He's got to for that. Studs were high but intent was on the ball. Yellow no red. dangerous not reckless or violent

If it caught the keeper higher than maybe

Agreed. He's got to go for it. Just felt he could have pulled out.

Brazil need to get the ball to Hulk...Just get him the ball. If Brazil are going to win, give Hulk the ball.

He'll open it up for Neymar...
