Iran has a pretty good bus. It parks pretty well.
They've also had some dangerous counters. This match has been more entertaining than I thought it would be.

Messi bent that one with his left foot around the entire bus. What a finish.

Gutted for Iran. I thought they outplayed Argentina...but Mess I is, well...Mess I

Interesting stuff from our English posters on the failure of the culture to develop and nurture high level footballers. As a coach here the issues are not too dissimilar as those brought forward by Glascow, English and Spur: lack of innovation at the top, league that hinders talent development and a breakdown in athletics and fitness as a whole.

Go Germany

What bus?

Not having possession isn't "parking a bus". Iran deserved more from the game. Better opportunities and were denied a penalty.

It was more of a joke (a bad one) than anything.

Iran were the better team tactically and creatively. Iran should have had a penalty, and had 2 or 3 chances they could have, and should have buried.

They didn't have much of the ball, but made the most of it when they did.

Levezzi should have started. That is a squad begging to be put into a 4231 IMO. Aguero or Higuain up top, Di Maria, Messi and Levezzi in behind him. Delicious.

The manager got it all wrong and got bailed out by Messi.

I thought maybe I was being too complimentary of Iran.

Germany-Ghana has come to life

Is it just me or have the majority of bad calls/noncalls either benefited a South American team or been detrimental to a European team (or both at the same time)?

Ok we need to win against Portugal because Germany is OFFICIALLY pissed.

We need a win against Portugal because thats what we have to do to advance.

Looking ahead does us little good. I don't care what the opponent is going through, or what happened to them.

We need to make the most of OUR situation and win.

Yep, just like our beloved Seahawks. Every game a championship game. GO USA! Shock the world. Jergen is a crazy genius you watch he's like Pete. 2 steps ahead.

Looks like we're going with a 4-2-3-1. Starting lineups have been announced.

Goalkeeper: Tim Howard

Defenders: Fabian Johnson, Geoff Cameron, Matt Besler, DaMarcus Beasley

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman, Jermaine Jones, Michael Bradley, Alejandro Bedoya, Graham Zusi

Forwards: Clint Dempsey

Yeah I thought they'd put Dempsey up there. I like it. The kid from Iceland was okay but I think Dempsey gives you a similar big and tougher man up front like Altidore.
