I saw him unimaginatively sheath his imaginary sword in demonstrative fashion multiple times following plays during which his assigned cover was unsuccessfully targeted with a pass and I said to myself, “Self, why don’t these guys come up with an original form of celebration?”

He's definitely good. I think people hate on him too much over a small handful of bad moments.

I know he's likely gone in the offseason regardless, but I doubt we'd get an offer good enough to really make it worth it, and if someone like the Eagles tries to trade for him, you know he'd go off there and I don't want them to have anything, so screw them. Best just to ride it out and re-evaluate at the end of the season.

Huh, I've always interpreted that gesture as a pantomimed locking of an imaginary seat belt, as in "I just locked you down" or something along those lines.

I definitely think it would be fun to see a player build on that concept, perhaps by turning an imaginary key in an imaginary doorknob; maybe snapping shut an imaginary Schlage in an imaginary locker latch; or — most creatively — holding up two fingers on one hand and pointing toward the turf with the other, physically referencing the #2 Seahawks jersey of Drew Lock and "down."

It's 100% a seatbelt mime.

I'm always fascinated by his lightning quick facial expression changes in an interview. He will flash a smile and within a microsecond shut it down into a frown. He doesn't seem super comfortable in public, perhaps even a savant of sorts. Brilliant defensive mind, locked in, very serious most of the time and I'm thrilled he's our coach.

Excellent observation. He's definitely "pumped and jacked" 😂

Haha. Exactly. My better half watched one of his post game pressers and her reaction was 'he is 100% an OCD, hyper focused on the edge of impairment ... He looks a little crazy in the eyes' or something like that. It's not wrong though. It takes a slightly 'off' persononality to immerse themselves fully in a topic or career to the point of obsession. But so many of the greats have it. Lombardi was known to live eat sleep football. Holmgren, the same. McVay- absolutley

I'm glad he is crazy, psycho obsessed. As long as he keeps his head and family together, he can keep the millisecond facial expression flips coming.

If Woolen can’t get motivated during a contract year he never will. My concern he does enough good to warrant a contract extension and than he has a I don’t care attitude

A best case scenario for Reek is Mooney Ward, who played out his last year in sf knowing he’d be a cap casualty. Ward admitted he had stopped caring whether the Niners won, bit obviously cared enough about his tape unlocking a 30m plus bag elsewhere.
