I just have this totally illogical belief that the NFL would love to see Peyton win another Super Bowl.

I know, I know - there's no evidence that such is the case. I mean, all the reporting is always so middle-of-the-road neutral. Peyton doesn't have reporters constantly trying to sniff his jock, and nobody out there treats Peyton like he is a football GOD, or anything like that.

And there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever anywhere anyhow that the upstanding, fair-minded and competent referees (who get their paychecks from the NFL, even though that would never ever ever have any influence on them) would ever help decide the outcome of a Super Bowl.

In all past Super Bowls every single call was perfect (Mike Pererereeeeaaara, the most straight-shooting NFL executive has assured me this is the case and who could possibly doubt such an upstanding, unbiased and honest expert on officiating). At the very least, every single penalty called at least had "elements" of the penalty (even though I have no idea what that actually means, my friend Mike sounds so sincere and convinving saying it). And no team has ever gotten away with phantom touchdowns or had an offensive line blatantly hold nearly every single play without it being penalized one time.

OK, I've convinced myself - I expect if we witness a Seahawks/Broncos Super Bowl, it will be the most fairly officiated event in human history. There is no way the Seahawks would have to beat the Broncos AND the Zebras simultaneously.

SO, can the Seahawks win 5 straight home games the remainder of this year?

Could the Seahawks beat the Broncos and the Zebras if they meet in Super Bowl XLVIII?

Yeah, this was brought up a while ago, but it does frighten me to think of 'Hawks vs. Broncos in the Super Bowl. There would be a 15-yard penalty every time we got within two yards of Peyton.

I don't know if my heart can take another SBXL type game. I would probably wreck my TV, and I really don't want to do that.

Being a fan from the beginning, I have always had those type of worries about the Seahawks ability to compete in tough situations.

I get what people are saying about the whole Peyton = Bettis thing, but I honestly feel like the storylines that the Seahawks have going for them right now trump that to an extent.

We're young, we have a charismatic coach, we have one of the "next great QB's" growing up in front of our eyes. With one more win Russell ties Ben Roethlisburger for most wins in a player's first 2 years, with 7 TD's he Ties the aforementioned #18 for most passing TD's in a QB's first 2 years.

We have exciting play makers on Defense, a beast of a HB, and the most electric WR in space in the NFL. This is a team built to drive naratives and have people talking about them. This isn't the same Seahawks team from 05. I think in 05 most of the pundits were still pissed that we didn't win in 04 like they said we were supposed to.

So all that incoherent rambling is just to say that I really don't think we should worry that much about the league trying to get Peyton a 2nd ring, he's got his 1 and will probably play at least 1 more year anyway.
