I'm sure he has done it in the past but for a guy his caliber how come we don't see him often on radio, media, or post game interviews?

Generally because he doesn't want to. Players do have certain media obligations and get fined when the don't participate.
Danny O'Neal has claimed recently that Lynch is actually more forthcoming with the media after a poor performance or a loss; which is why you haven't heard from him much last year ;) .

His early days at Buffalo, he was pretty accessible. He started to clam up after some of his early Seahawks RRRs. I think he completely shut it down after he was called out for his rendition of the Bellevue traffic stop on twitter. One of our former posters dropped the "N-word" on him about the tweet and that he was going to be making a lot of money soon and needed to be more a role model.

He didn't help himself with the DUI last year along with the issues late in his time at Buffalo. I would probably keep my mouth shut as well. As far as post-game comments, the claim is that he rather deflect credit to his team mates. ESPN and NFLN have tried to feature him during national telecasts and he doesn't want to play along.

It is part of the role, especially when you are paid well by the organization for your services. PR is part of the job but he just isn't playing along.

Did you perhaps miss the long interview with NFL Films after his Beast Mode run against NO?

Yeah, was going to mention that one. He also has gone on-air down in the Bay Area for interviews such as the one he did for an affair he was hosting. You just will not see much of him locally here being quoted after a game. Could just be our media guys are conditioned to not ask him questions after games or practices now?

This latest DUI did not help matters. I'm pretty sure that he does not want that to be brought up in an interview.

Didn't stop him when he was interviewed in the week leading up to the 1st AZ game when there was concern he would be scratched.
Lynch just doesn't care for interviews. It's just who he is.

It's because everybody made such a big deal about the grill shopping video.

In all seriousness, as fans we want (and seem to have a need) to hear them speak. But I don't mind Beast (or any of them) not speaking much if that's what he chooses. Let his shoulder pads do the talking. I'm okay with one less athlete offering up the same old BS cliches week after week. Kinda adds to his persona and a little mystery if you ask me... or then again maybe he just doesn't have anything to say.

I am guessing that an agent or PR Rep encouraged him to lay low for a while after a few things happened that portrayed him in a somewhat negative light, and he just realized that he liked not talking to the media and it stuck.

I thought it was because of something he said on one of the earlier RRR's

This. Alan Page the Viking DE was the same. It's no big deal especially since we have Sherman who loves the camera it kind of balances out if you take that into account.

As long as he scores a bunch of TD's, and helps the team win games and get to the Superbowl, it's all good.

Lynch has always struck me as a bit camera shy. I know RRR is a bit of an act, but the rare occasion where he was featured on the game day broadcasts he was just...shy. Really kind of quiet and nervous. Some people just don't do well in front of cameras like that.

He dislikes doing interviews almost as much as the Seahawks PR staff dislikes him doing interviews. The guy isn't all there socially. He did a radio interview or two and a tv interview in particular during a preseason game early in his career here. They were the strangest interviews I've ever seen. They basically went something like this:

Interviewer--"Marshawn, coach Carroll has been running up and down these sidelines, does it make you excited to play for a coach that brings this type of energy?"

Marshawn: "For some reason they thought they could go over the middle and Earl and the defense are really working hard in practice and really hitting people out here today."

He says it with a big smile and comes off as a likable goofball, but he is definitely a different kind of cat.

Sounds like he likes talking football and is a straight shooter about the subject but is totally misunderstood and shy. Just like myself....I think I am in love with him.
