In Pittsburgh, the Post-Gazette reported Dupree said he apologized to Wilson after the play.

Dupree told the newspaper he had not heard from the NFL about a fine for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Wilson.

“Today’s Wednesday, right? Yeah, I’m good,” Dupree told the Post-Gazette.
“I really didn’t try to do an illegal or dirty hit on him.”

Told later Wednesday of Dupree saying he apologized to Wilson, Carroll said: “I hope that helps him.”

If the NFL decided not to fine Dupree because they heard he apologized to RW, that bothers me. Especially so, knowing Dupree is a repeat offender. Violent helmet-to-helmet hits, which Dupree-on-RW was, should be fined 100 percent of the time because we can't have players thinking all they need to do is say "Sorry!" afterwards to avoid a fine.

Even more bothersome is the different level of concern shown to different quarterbacks by referees and the NFL. RW, Cam Newton, and others are paying the price.

The Jamal Adams hit on Baker Mayfield that drew a fine Monday Night was not nearly as late and barely made contact to the head, if at all.

But Adams isn't a stealer so he and everyone else that isn't have a different set of expectations/rules.

How that wasn't a fine, I'll never know. He's still looking at Wilson when the ball is released, then launches off his back foot, lowers his head, and hits Wilson in the head. That's 3 different penalties all in one and nothing was called. The R and LJ are supposed to be watching the QB until the ball is gone and neither did anything. Are we the Saints now?

Just be happy that they didn't fine Wilson for not moving his head out of the way fast enough.
