I don't know that I have ever seen a player get more cred for doing less.
Sadly this is where I'm at as well.

Just like Cowherd said about Russ, 'talent is immediate'..he is DEFINITELY a good cornerback. or at least, was. but he played well against Niners, and maybe Cards? I can't remember what games he actually played

Oh you have. A QB, his name starts with... actually I think you can figure out who I'm talking about.

I gotta say I am getting a little hyped about our secondary depth if Thurmond stays healthy. Thurmond, Lane, Simon, Maxwell. Given some time I think Thurmond and Lane could hold their own out there, still gotta see what Simon has, and Maxwell is just so tight I think he'd get picked on in extended time playing time, at least in man, but he didn't look bad against SF.

I'm curious how those corners with some experience would stack up to our 2009 corners. What was it Jennings, Trufant, Wilson? Is that the year we brought Ken Lucas back? I'm probably overrating the talent of our corners now just since we haven't really seen them play all that much.

Just hearing those blast-from-the-past names, Jennings, Wilson, Lucas, makes me appreciate PC/JS and the constant upgrading of the roster.
Kelly Jennings could cover OK but not make the play on the ball. Josh Wilson had a big heart and gave 100% all the time I ever saw him, but undersized and victimized by bigger receivers. I was always getting CB Ken Lucas mixed up wtih S Ken Hamlin so Lucas' play must not have been that memorable. Seems like our current CB depth guys are as good or better than nearly anyone on that list. WTIII, Lane, Maxwell, etc.

I have little confidence in Thurmond'shealth at this point, but there's a reason he's still around. He's shown far more talent in limited snaps than any of our other options have. A healthy Thurmond is way better than anyone currently on this roster except Sherman. He just needs to double up on the duct tape around each of his ligaments.

Thurmond was graded out as a 2nd round talent coming out of college but he has shown to be a 1st round talent when on the field. This is his make or break year with the health, and like someone mentioned, if he gets hurt, it's IR and sayonara! It would be too bad though, another Marcus Tubbs. I felt bad for him and he was such a beast when it came to stopping the run.

Tharold Simon has more talent than Byron Maxwell and will most likely replace him on the roster. Upon which, Jacksonville will pick him up :D

I really hope our DBs watch and emulate everything that Antoine Winfield does in his game preparation. Jeremy Lane could become a Pro Bowler if he does such.
