12thmanrising has had several interesting pieces lately.
None of this is new. We've been complaining for last few years of so many games where the players seem flat, checked out, apathetic, uninspired, or whatever term you want to use. When the problem persists across multiple coaches 'cultures', the problem isn't the 'culture' - it's the players.

Culture change is never comfortable when the Tax man cometh for accountable issues, change was great at first, winning out of the gate, losing and Mac holding guys accountable and taking them to task to rectify it isn't something that has happened much the last 14 years, many of these players were part of the Gentlemen's club Pete had here. There will be turnover as we get guys with the right mindset in place and if we develop leaders that hold each other accountable so spill over isn't as obvious.

Hey look at it this way, we are not the Raiders, Jets, Browns or heh heh Cowboys yet.

It's not uncommon that a turnover in personnel is needed when there's a change in leadership in any organization, especially when the personality types of the leaders are so vastly different. Chukar is right, we're in rebuild mode, make no mistake about it. I thought MM could keep our talent organized and make a go of it, but I was wrong. This season is going to reveal who's onboard and who isn't, the coming offseason will be a bloodbath and it needs to be.
Yesssss Aircrew. YESSS

It makes sense and has to happen . MM isn't going anywhere , he will have the time and support from JS.

Sorry , I don't see JS going anywhere either . This is his first shot running things 100% his way without someone having the ability to overrule him. We'll probably never know to what extent or how much it happened with PC but my guess is that it happened a lot after their initial success. How do you argue with your boss who just went to 2 Superbowls ,came within the stupidest play call in history of a repeat?

Again this is my uneducated theory.

Schneider can look at all things from a different perspective . His decisions aren't hindered in any way .
I think he gets at least a couple of 2-3 seasons to transform the team.

This is a player thing in my opinion. And alot of this kind of stuff falls on the assistant coaches to do their jobs aswell. MM doesn't have time to talk to each individual about how they are pouting. He is a smart guy and comes from a team that has a winning culture. I'm sure he can see who needs to be gone. The season is still young so all he can do is take notes and address it on the practice fields.

Go watch the game against the Steelers last year. Players gave up on PC and his coaches as well.

I think part of the issue (a big one) is that young Mike is trying to maintain intensity and focus during games via coordinators who are vastly inexperienced and in Grubb's case, ebtirely absent from the sideline and up in the booth.

He's suffering from a similar issue as PC - his generals arent strong enough to hold things together when they go wrong.

Durdy seems like a knowledgable guy, but that doesnt mean he commands respect.

Grubb seems like a creative enough playcaller, but would he be able to keep DK in check when he starts throwing a tantrum? With Grubb, i have a sneaky suspicion he has little interest in managing player emotions, maintaining focus ans stoking moral on the sidelines.

So its not so much that Mike's method is failing. But if he is the type of leader to stand there stoically with his back to the bench while he's calling the D and working with Grubb to handle substitutions on O, he cant have a bunch of absent or quiet nice guys backing him up, especially when things go bad. Its not that it cant be done. Bill B was a quiet leader but led with a big stick and had young guys he groomed who maintained the sidelines... and he had Brady. A Reid is quiet, but had Spags and had Bienemy to chew guys out l, build them up and keep players heads in the game.

It remains to be seen if MM has the generals he needs

And therein lies the chasm in the execution of the culture on gameday. Pete was everywhere on the sideline, talking to everyone. Mike might be masterful monday to saturday and entirely competent (even moreso) on gameday, but if his way is less engaging in terms of interaction with guys on gameday and keeping things together, he needs men to do that for him.

I dont see it in Grubb (and he cant do it from the booth) and I cant say that I have seen Durdy at all.

Just my .02
Well said.

Winning cures all, and they need to win fast. This could get ugly as hell if they don't.
Agreed.
I suspect it's already a little worse than we know based on Leonard Williams and Tyler Lockett talking like they have in the media. Those guys are leaders, and for it to spill into the public record indicates some real frustration.
Agreed. Combine that with the Geno tablet head bashing, and the DK headset Grubb thing.......

Again, much like this guy's last article, the author jumps to wild conclusions from Lockett's relatively benign comment.

MM is going to fleece this roster after the season. Not much he can do about it right now.
Exactly. And credit to @Soulfish too above. This is NOT a 6 game project. 6 years maybe… tap the ******* brakes. And don’t give me the Pete shit etc… MM needs time. Just like PC was given three years too long. Changing a mindset and approach takes time. Cmon man…

I always enjoy your posts and I think you again nailed it this time. In short, our coaches haven't or umm, heck, failed to earn players' respect. When times were good, it was easy to sit around the firepit and sing kumbaya, When times were bad, rookie coaches with less experience than the players just couldn't lift the team when they needed a lift.

To say John Schneider is not going anywhere or Mike McDonald is not going anywhere, you don’t know that

The agreement Paul Allen had with the State ends this fall. Paul Allen’s will states the team is to be sold. Put those two together, don’t be surprised if the team goes up for sale in the near future

New Owners could be sending a whole lot of people packing

Something that excites me as an improvement toward "something seems wrong" is the return to action by Murphy and Reed II. Both those guys are defensive playmakers, Murphy in the heart of the DL and Reed on ST and hopefully as a safety teaming with Love.
