Well, I got to see what I wanted to see. A win is the cherry on top...

Like most of us I didn't expect to win this game. Going in there were a few things I wanted to see.

1. Cut down the penalties/mental errors. Check. 4 flags today, pretty nice overall. Not an overwhelming number of negative plays.

2. More running game. Check, sorta. We did more, but I think we need to do more. Grubb stll working on that balance.

3. Defensive improvement. Check. Still a work in progress, but held them to 17 points, made stops in critical times, like that hold after the Geno pick where we only gave up 3.

There are more, I guess, but it was a pretty well played game on our part, and like I said, the win is the cherry on top.

The Seahawks are slowly learning to play gutsy football against tough nosed teams. That is a huge step forward for the team and organization to be relevant again.

Yeah when December shows up you need to run the football. That is a hallmark of a physical team.

For a new coach and coaching staff, it is an improvement. For the players, they are learning what they can do. And at this stage of the season, they are not there yet, but getting closer. Another year and a few more tweaks, they are there. A year, maybe a year and a half.

Defensive front had a good game today. Even the linebackers didn't play terribly. Our backs outside of Spoon need to play more physical.

Geno can't have that INT. He's had bad ones before but that may have been his worst. That just can't happen.

If Charb is going to get any more playing time he needs to run like a power back and not dance. I don't think we suddenly are going to have an excquisite run game, this o-line is just not up to snuff and nothing is changing that.

This team is efficient on offense when there is a short yardage playmaker available. DK over the middle, JSN over the middle about 5-7 yards down field. Not a tight end, someone with wheels. Not only will these draw linebackers away from the middle and allow for more QB runs up the middle (not designed, just breakdown runs) and give Geno a decent out he can quickly look to. A lot of our passing plays seem to be slow developing and Geno isn't an accelerated reader of options, he's normal in that sense.

In the first few games of the season, I saw toughness in this team. It went away for awhile. Looked like it was back today. That bye week might have come at the perfect time.

I thought overall everything I saw was positive. Our defense played great today, minus two long drives but every team is going to give up 1 or 2 drives. Our linebacking corps looks night and day different with Jones IV with the green dot, especially on run fits.

The offense, I wanted to see Grubb show adaptation and he did. We got creative with the run game, including two handoffs to the FB spot and a jet sweep. This is what we need. As our second to last drive showed, we are not going to be a ram it down your throat offense and that is ok. We just need to recognize it.

Geno can't have that INT. He's had bad ones before but that may have been his worst. That just can't happen.
I watched the All-22 tape of Geno's INTs this season because of a different discussion and most of them have been tips, pressure related, etc., but generally not bad decision making.

His 2 worst ones coming into this week--where it was pretty much all on him making a bad decision--were against the Niners back in Week 6. I don't know what they do defensively, but there is something he doesn't seem to be reading right against their coverage.

It was starting to show against the Rams too, just not quite enough there.

Thank sutz. Good points!

I really want to see the offense take a leap forward and I'm not seeing it yet. I hope that it's Grubb still learning the NFL, or learning his players. But man, we need more action and more aggression.

Not sure how many plays they went under center, but it was way more often and it's the difference between a run play getting stuffed and getting at least 2-4 yds +
