Looking to be very wet Sunday. Russ seems to struggle in the rain if memory serves. Dunno about Mahomes but we're gonna need all the offense we can get.

Huh. Just checked a few different websites and I'm seeing things like "A little morning rain; otherwise, plenty of clouds" (Accuweather) and "A chance of rain" (NOAA). I'm not seeing anywhere calling for it to be very wet.

But it is the PNW in December so who knows?

The field turf holds up well in the rain. I'm getting 80% chance of rain on Sunday. High winds tonight, but doesn't say it will continue into the weekend. Wet is usually not as bad as wind for the passing and kicking game.

I have always hoped for a lot of rain in Seattle when we play a fast team like the Chiefs. Especially if it's a team that throws up passing numbers like they do. I'm looking forward to watching Mahomes play, kid is a beast.
I appreciate greatness, even if it's scary.......
Reminds me of watching Watson last year, that was a blast.

For a team that you’d think would do well in wet weather, the Hawks seem to struggle in it. I’m hoping for no rain. I know both teams have to play in it, but it makes me nervous when we’re on offense (slips, fumbles, etc).

Weatherunderground has 90% chance at .85"

Who knows though I feel like forecasts have been especially off this year.

I usually look at Weatherunderground and Accuweather. What I was told a few months ago by a friend of a friend of a friend that knows a friend of a weatherperson is that you can only guess more than 2 days out. 2 days is the limit of wx broadcast with any bit of accuracy. So a day out you can see what the Doppler Radar system is telling you as far as weather expected. Remember that light blue is snow,And dark green is rain.

Precipitation models are really bad more than three days out; there are too many variables that can cause significant changes to the probabilities. Given that we haven't entered that range it is hard to see where it ends up.

Temperatures are a little easier to model farther out but more in a general range rather than specifics.

These companies that give 14 day forecasts might as well just have a random process generated around historical averages.

Maybe one day when we can model all the molecules in the atmosphere and get the initial conditions right, we can be really good at this stuff.

Does anyone remember a game in Kansas City, a good many years ago, where it rained torrentially during a massive thunderstorm, IIRC? I recall it made the news here, and I thought at the time how crazy it was that the game was not interrupted, for obvious reasons. The water was pouring down the outside of the stadium walls like a curtain! AND we lost, I think...

Thank you! I didn't remember there WAS a delay in the game.

Also, agreed about the limited reliability of precipitation forecasts over more than 2-3 days, as I've been told by a friend who is a professor at the University of Washington.

They've gotten pretty good in the 2-3 day window. But yeah, the farther out you go, the lower the probability of being correct.

Right now, I see game time temps predicted in the mid 40's with light rain. I find that if the extended prediction doesn't change much over time, it is fairly reliable. It hasn't varied much so far.

As an addendum to my post, They forecasted 1-3 inches of snow 3 years ago the night before....it snowed 7+ inches the next day. The dang storm did not leave as it was caught in the valley...I did not rope it. That was SnowMageddon...we got 3 feet on the floor in the valley over a month time. I had to phone a friend finally to dump the snow off my driveway.

That's a while ago since warren moon and joe Montana were the QB's I believe. But I do remember water flowing down the stadium stairs like a river.

I can still see Ricky Watters plowing through the line looking like he was running through a river. That game was nuts.

Just crazy. Water rolling down the stairs like a river basically.
Or the game at Husky Stadium when Alexander slid close to 5 yards and they somehow gave the Hawks a safety.
And like Steve says, no QB's are going to thrive in it and/or want to play in the rain.

That was one of the first Seahawks games I vividly remember (I’m 31). I was young at the time, outside of the Seattle viewing market, back before internet streaming, and no Sunday ticket. Basically only got to watch the Seahawks on primetime games. What a fun game to watch that one was though.
