We could clinch the Division early

I was responding to another thread and came to realize we can clinch the Division really early.

Week 11
Assuming we win against the Vikings we are 10-1
If the 49ers lose against the Saints in NO they drop to 6-4.

Week 12
We have a bye and lets say the 49ers win against the Redskins in DC bringing them to 7-4.

Week 13
Assuming the 49ers win yet again at home against the Rams that brings them to 8-4.
Lets assume we lose to the Saints and drop to 10-2

Week 14
We beat the 49ers dropping them to 8-5 and we go to 11-2.

At this point there are 3 weeks left in the season and even if the 49ers won all 3 to go 11-5 they would not pass us as we have the Tiebreaker over us if we lost to go 11-5 as well. Even if they beat the Saints all we would have to do is win against the Giants, Cards or Rams and we would win the Division as well.

So this next week I will be a Saints fan in the hope we can clinch the Division when we play the 49ers. It might not come to that though if the 49ers implode or we somehow lose to the Vikings and Saints

Of course there are alot of scenarios that could play out this is just the one that I find most likely (although I dont think we lose against NO but we could)

The division, and when we win it, is not even a concern for me at this point.

Home field advantage with the number one seed is.

Well the Saints still have to play the Panthers Twice, 49ers and Seahawks. They are currently 2-2 on the road with Road visits to Seattle, Carolina, Falcons and Rams.

They have a pretty dang hard schedule left IMO. 5 of the games they have left IMO could go either way those being Pannthers x2, Seahawks, 49ers and Rams and 3 of those are on the Road. I am finding it very hard to believe the Saints will be the #1 seed when its likely they wont even win their division.

PLEASE, can we focus on the next game, before thinking about clinching the division.

Strike that! We need to focus on this week's practice, then we can focus on the Viking game, then focus on the bye week, etc..!

..

:sarcasm_off:

I'm pretty much on board with all that, though I don't think we'll lose to the Saints. Good post!

I dont think we lose against the Saints either but all we really have to do is just win next week to go 10-1 and then hopefully split or win both against the 49ers and Saints. I think if we beat both of them we will have #1 wrapped up 3 weeks before the playoffs even start so In theory I guess we could have #1 wrapped up after beating the 49ers haha

I agree with what you are saying, and it will be cool when we win the division early. I have such high expectations for this team though, that when we win HFA, is on my mind more than the others. I am a fan, I can look forward, as most of us are doing.

The team needs to take every game seriously, and not think this way, but it sure is fun to think like this for us!

I hope so. I want to see what tjax 2.0 can do against real opponents. I have an on going argument with cowboy coworker who this Orton is way better.
