We Cannot Beat Good Teams

Just look at the schedule, anytime we play a good team we lose. We are 1-4 against playoff teams.

We’ve beaten a bunch of bad teams. At the time, the Niners and Falcons wins looked decent but both those teams have completely dropped off.

Our only win against a playoff team was against Denver, and that was against a rookie playing in his first game.

Technically, we beat four teams that had winning records at the time (Patriots, Falcons, Niners, Cards). If we want to get really delusional, we can claim we demoralized them.

I don't know why folks expected a super bowl run in a rebuilding year with a new HC and completely new staff?

What Macdonald has done with what he was handed is commendable. I have no doubt he will shore up the trenches in the off season and continue to bring in the players that better fit his system.

It is what it is. He was given a pete carroll O and D line. What did you expect was going to happen?

Biggest issue with the roster is the trenches. Night and day looking at the upper tier teams vs the Seahawks. Defensive side has improved over the year and they do a good job adjusting but I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s a good amount of turnover this offseason. MM cut both starting LB’s mid season because they weren’t good enough.

OL needs a full evaluation and reconstruction. Money and resources need to go there or this team is going nowhere.

I'm always disappointed in DKs production, at one time I thought a possible elite WR but seems stuck around the 800yds, 6 TDs a season
Time to move on from Tyler Lockett as well

Before last night, Packers had only lost to Lions, Eagles & Vikings, all 3 guaranteed play offs now

OL got handled last night and they had no answers. The Pack ran on our D with barely any effort. Those two issues have got to get solved.

Riq Woolen played like he had no urgency at all. No juice. Another mailed in performance during the biggest game of the year. Can’t have inconsistent play at corner and hope to do anything meaningful.

Overall a poo game plan and poo result.

DK was doing the small things that don't show up on the stat sheet. He's one of the last guys I'm worried about right now.

I hate when the media is right about this team. We haven't beaten anyone. Denver doesn't count (week 1 against a rookie QB making his first ever start).

The media are right about the Seahawks this year

They are very clearly a position 13-18 team, that much is obvious

If you take the two worst teams in the NFL out and split the rest into 5 tiers of 6 teams, Seattle sit in tier 3, GB sit at the top of tier 2, very close to tier 1

The result was no surprise at all, same with Buffalo (tier 1), same with Detroit (tier 1)

It‘s fine margins but this team isn’t a legitimate force yet, nor should it be

I’ve been saying this for years and years. Seattle cannot beat the good playoff caliber teams. Seattle got manhandled by The Packers front 4. The four game win streak was against mediocre defensive lines and Seattle offensive line for years, is of mediocre tier, so they matchup equally, but when it’s a good winning record playoff team, Seattle’s soft offensive line will get taken to the woodshed and punished.

Seattle could not generate any momentum and when they did Geno throws an interception in the end zone.

Geno, is not it, man, I’m sorry. You can’t expect to be “the guy” if the pressure causes you to force bad throws. Taking the sack is the best option at that point.

I think they would probably beat us in a rematch. They have a pretty good oline, one of the reasons Nix has progressed. He looked pretty bad in his first game as a pro. He couldn't hit the side of a barn with a shotgun.

The big thing is not losing to a good team. It's not even being competitive in those games. Getting smacked in the mouth like a bitch.

I think if last night would have been a dog fight to the end but they came up short, we could have still had hopes for a good finish to the season and felt ok about it. To me it feels like any progress made this season all just went right out the window. Back to square one.

It will be very telling how the front office addresses these issues. Do they force Tyler to retire, do they cut bait with Geno and renegotiate DK contract to free up cap space to fix both lines? The hawks will still draft in 15-18 spot, not high enough to bag a top tier qb but hopefully they can find a good DL or OL at that spot.
with a half decent OL, I suspect our RB would produce more and it might even help the passing game.
I will tune into next weeks game to see how badly the Vikings destroy this team if Geno can’t play.

I've seen a few posters liken this season, mainly after the recent turn around, to the 2012 or 2011 seasons. When we started feeling like we we're getting close. But from the mid-2011 season on, the Seahawks didn't lose a game by more than 8 points, including 2 playoff games in 2012. No body smashed them in the mouth and completely embarrassed them like they did yesterday.

I was never under the delusion that this was a contending team. I think Mike has done an admirable job as head coach year one. I'm excited for the future. It's one game, things went bad right from the jump. It happens.

Although true, I think it skews the reality of how good those teams really are. The Seahawks played the Patriots in week 2. No way to know how good or bad a team is in week 2. The Hawks beat a Niners team that was decimated with injuries. The Falcons are in free fall having lost their last 4 games and fans calling for Penix. The Cards have a couple of quality wins against the Rams and Chargers. Although the Chargers got dominated by the Bucs at home yesterday so not sure how good they really are.

Not feeling like any of those wins are signature wins. The win over the Broncos was against a brand new rookie QB at home so not hugely impressive. They've beaten the teams they should. Now they have to work on getting to a place where the can beat the others.

The Packers are just a better team at this point. That's why last night's game went like it did. They have a better roster and better coaching. But hopefully our roster will improve and I believe from what I've seen that our coaching will improve after the coaching staff's first season.

No excuses because we were losing already and Geno wasn't playing great, but there was no way we were going to make a come back after Geno got hurt. However, the defense did improve in the second half and that was encouraging.

We can't even beat bad teams at home. Remember the Vagiants game? I do.

Well there is a simple answer to that. This is NOT a GOOD team and I don't write that upset and angry. It's just factual and very understandable given what we should be expecting, a first year with a new coach and still a lot of opportunity left to create or find more talent.

This team is exactly what the record shows, and what we see. Slightly above average or .500, knocking on the door for the playoffs, but not an actual playoff team or contender. I am okay with this.
