I think Petrino would be a great hire for the Dawgs, though would be curious to see how well received he'd be.

We all know he wants to get back in the BCS game again.

His checkered past notwithstanding, that's the kinda cat you want running your team: somebody who's still hungry, and has a massive chip on his shoulder — against his old boss at Arkansas, against the bobbleheads at ESPN, against, well, pretty much everyone.

Be ready, Husky fans: those chimps at ESPN are about to start throwing a whole bunch of turds your way.

The fact that we're not hearing Petrino's name mentioned very much in this ordeal gives me even further impetus to believe that, yeah, he's the new guy.

I just hope the UW athletic director makes like Teddy Roosevelt, and carries a big stick.

He'll need to.

@Hass it doesn't stimg at all for me. I wasn't high on him to begin with. Hawken soured me. Besides now that the Pac-12 has dumped money into their schools they will start winning the recruits from California amd such that previously Boise was able to snag. As fas as him turning down SC. LA isn't for everyone.

Are you kidding? BSU has never stolen any "good" recruits from CA. If you look at your ESPN recruit grading scale, I think they have landed ONE 4 star recruit ever. That's Aaron Baltazar, last year. The majority of the guys BSU lands are graded around 75ish or lower on the ESPN scale. Petersen gets the overlooked guys.

Also, as a Boise resident, Boise is a pretty kickass place to live if you enjoy the outdoors and want to get away from 300+ days of rain. That's why I moved. The cost of living is incredibly cheap too so Coach Pete's mediocre D1 coaching salary is probably worth twice as much here.

When did I say 4 star?? I meant the WSU, ASU, Oregin St. etc who get what SC doesn't. Also with Fresno St and SJSU getting better they will get more recruits. Point being IMO the Boise ship sailed. Your best days are behind you. It won't be what it was.

As far as Boise, I lived in Bakersfield Ca. for 7 years and didn't mind it. I have nothing against Boise.

Washington scheduled to interview Bama OC Doug Nussmeier today, Boise's Chris Petersen Friday sources told

It'd be great if the Huskies could nab Petersen. I highly doubt it would happen though if he rejected other head coaching opportunities at better places. He may be using UW as leverage for a bigger contract at Boise.

You a bit late, doll.

Done been outscooped with regard to that story more than a few times on this very thread.

It's nice to see your pretty face here with us, though.

You got here just in time for the next shuffle:

Think one of these boys here is 'bout to domino.

Be rotten.

Petersen doesn't want the huge spotlight that a job like USC would bring.

Wait? On page 7 of this thread both CALIHAWK1, CPHawk and you all give reports that Petersen is out, no source given. At 2:30 today Softy, a fairly reliable local media source, tweets via ESPN that Nuss is interviewing today and Petersen is tomorrow. So Geologic's point seems completely relevant. Petersen's on the table.

That and I think Petersen and family are a bit more open to Seattle because their son has or had cancer treatments here occasionally. Financially he could have leveraged Boise for more a few times over, but he has the reputation as a coach that doesn't place the highest priority on $$.

He will still be in the spotlight, though — just because he's Chris Petersen.

Wow. That is horrible, man — that bit about their son.

Will hafta remember the Petersens in my prayers. God bless 'em.

If Petersen actually interviews, it's his job. For all the rumors about linking him with other programs that last 5 years or so, I don't believe he's ever formally interviewed for a position, this would be the first.

I don't think he bothers jumping through that hoop if he's not going to take it.

Yeah it's been rough for Chris Petersen. I think this event was what made him stay in Boise.

When Coach Petersen was the receivers coach at Oregon his then one-year-old son, Sam, fell and hit his head during a preseason scrimmage game. What was supposed to be a routine check to make sure everything was alright turned into any parent's worst nightmare. Sam had a brain tumor that had spread to his spine.

Washington has one of the best medical centers in the country so this could factor in why he decided to interview for this job and not others.

You know I like Peterson and he has done great things for BSU, it'll be a different ball game recruiting in the Pac but the players he does get will play hard for him.

If he really is interviewing then I think he's going to leave BSU. Sad day for them...

It was a BR alert. I can't or don't know how to post links from my phone. Since then an alert has come through he will intervirw tomorrow and another that he wants this job. The one saying he's out has been removed. BR posts from any and all outlets so I don't know where it originated.

Yeah, it's the craps. I can't even imagine what it must be like for them.

His whole situation in Boise made a lot of sense when I understood that context. Who knows what he'll end up doing, but if he does come to UW I think his lack of recruiting in the Pac can be glossed over for a bit if he's able to retain Wilcox and Tosh.

I saw some of the users on Dawg Pound report they received and ESPN mobile alert on it, but there was no linked story. I wonder what source originated the stories, or if it was just some intern crapping the bed and releasing unsubstantiated rumors.

Petersen is a class guy all around. I've seen him running along the greenbelt and he always replies to you when you talk to him as he's running by. Offensively I think he's a genius. The last 2 years he hasn't had a QB capable of runnig his system.

Lots of tweets now confirming that Petersen is interviewing Friday.

That is huge, if he's interviewing that means there's a mutual interest.

Hopefully he knocks it out of the park and gets the offer, dudes got connections all over the West Coast, and at UW will have an easier time getting those 4 star recruits just because it is Washington, and its the Pac Freakin' 12.
