1. Last night I watched a little segment on NFL about Russell and the girl from Seattle Children's who made the wallet (a story most of us are familiar with). I was struck, not for the first time by how special a person this guy really is. I try to shy away from human interest / football related things because I find them to be insincere most of the time, and staged. But Wilson wins me over. He's just too great. Plus, I know a nurse at Children's and she told me Wilson was there every week well before it was publicized by the team or the NFL. He and his wife really are wonderful.
I have a friend who works at Children's and can verify this. I can also verify that he often goes more than once a week.

I don't think you have to be a parent (which I am) to appreciate what a good person Wilson seems to be, but whenever I see photos of him doing good stuff for kids, like walking out on the field with that little boy, my paternal instincts just go hyper and I have to go find a quiet place to catch my breath. I never want to meet Wilson this way, but would be grateful if he brought some happiness to my little girl (already a bigh "E-sawks!" fan) if I did. With all the accolades and adoration he's getting lately, I truly hope he manages to remain within his true self.

Just heard this from a patient, apparently they were discussing it on the radio this morning. Russell did his post-game stuff with the MNF crew, went in to the locker room, showed and dressed in his post-game suit and then did his media interview obligations. Then as the rest of his team was getting ready to go out on the town to celebrate for the night Russell went back into the locker room, put his UNIFORM BACK ON, and went out into the empty stadium with a young boy through the Make A Wish foundation and played catch and talked with him for almost an hour.

This guy is too good to be true. He deserves every ounce of respect and money he'll end up getting.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" Matthew 25:40

Russell is a man living out his life with a Biblical worldview. God bless him for it. Tremendously heartwarming to read stories like this. Thank you for sharing.

Another thread about to be hijacked. Do not mention that who must not be mentioned.

Time for RockHawk to make good on his warning.

Wishing your cousin a speedy recovery! Russell Wilson is an even better person than quarterback, which is saying quite a lot.

And yes, can we just have a thread about Russell Wilson without dragging what's-his-nuts into it, just once???

Just for the record, I like djTOY2000. Seems like a cool dude and an outstanding artist. Don't really want him to "get a vacation", as RockHawk puts it. Just a friendly reminder not to derail this awesome thread.

Russell Wilson is the freaking man.

We are so blessed to have him as our QB. I wouldn't want anyone else. It's so awesome to be completely proud of who your QB is on AND off the field.

You know, the NFL itself should sign Russell Wilson to a massive "IMAGE" contract... god knows their image sucks and he could go along way in helping to rebuild it... unfortunately I really don't think they would know how...

The guy is really incredible...

I'm not normally a gushy person but I am a father and I do think this changes your perspective on things. RW is such a classy guy that it feels like an honour to wear his shirt and number.

I thought I was going to open this thread to read that he began film study on the Whiners. He must've done that after spending time with the boy.

Seriously, my throat got really thick reading this. I'm going to enjoy every second of this man's career in Seattle and then enjoy watching him become President of the USA or whatever else he decides he's going to do.
